Born and Raised in Seattle, Lorenzo the First began exploring hip hop in 1999, developing an individual style of production and rapping. First, starting from tape to tape sample transfer over Casio kicks, and recording vocals into half a broken head phone on to cassette tapes...has now developed into the birth of FIRST STUDIOS. L1 created First Sudios in a tiny Queen Anne appartment in 2001, where self motivation was the only thing keeping it alive, (not to mention the cheapest radio shack mic available at the time). The broad diversity of samples used, and L1's original drum techniques and patterns, have kept any First Studios recording a unique piece in itself. Holding a extensive background in many instruments, Lorenzo filled in for his older brothers band throughout middle school, playing bass and guitar. Having the bands practice space in his garage kept a musical passion alive. While Production was his initial interest, poety turned verse worthy words kept L1's head spinning and pen moving. After teaming up with the likes of Prophet of Noise, Griff J, Holy Hymn, b-1, Scud Silverman and most recently producer Little Beats inc. Lorenzo the First has finally broken out of his shell and is pushin his music harder than ever.CATAPULT is an 18 song blend of intoxication, frustration, hate for the 9-5, passion for life and love for music.
