| | Hasil Adkins Best Of The Haze CD Hasil Adkins Discography of CDs
Most famous for inventing the psychobilly sound popularized later by the Cramps, Hasil Adkins's music has always been about letting his proverbial freak flag fly. The promise of sexual liberation in Elvis's rockabilly gets a seriously obsessive twist in Adkins's take on the genre, and what emerges can be all at once hilarious, fun, riveting, creepy, and menacing. BEST OF THE HAZE focuses on Adkins's straighter rockabilly numbers and is a worthwhile compilation--although, with the exclusion of songs like "I Need Your Head," perhaps not the best introduction to some of his weirder moments. BEST OF THE HAZE does, however, include classics like "She Said" and "Wild Man." Hasil Adkins Best Of The Haze Songs Best Of The Haze Review

Best Of The Haze album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer ...
| | Sting If On A Winter's Night... CDs (2009) Digipak
Best Of The Haze CD music
$14.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives ...

| | Nikka Costa Everybody Got Their Something CD (2001)
Best Of The Haze songs
$11.69 She may be the offspring of famed Sinatra arranger Don Costa, but Nikka Costa's muse lies in a soulful fusion of rock, electronica and hip-hop. Costa ignited a buzz via the lo-fi, beat-heavy "Like A Feather" (included here as the opening track) that was used in a Tommy Hilfiger ad in Summer 2000. Released on D'Angelo's label Cheeba Sound, Costa's debut is far from empty industry hype, as she shifts gears between the percolating Sly-flavored funk of the title track to giving Macy Gray a run for her money on the R&B ballad "Just Because."
Costa's eclectic tastes also pop up via samples of The Beastie Boys (the psychedelic trip-hop of "So Have I For You"), Xavier Cugat (a drum-and-bass flavored "Tug Of War"), and Cannonball Adderley (the string-laden soul tune "Corner Of My Mind"). A delightful grab-bag of stylistic nuances, EVERYBODY GOT THEIR SOMETHING is a wonderfully organic debut that promises to find its way onto more than a few Best Of 2001 lists.

| | KCRW: Sounds Eclectic Too CD (2002)
Best Of The Haze album
$13.05 All the recordings on SOUNDS ECLECTIC TOO were recorded live on the daily music program Morning Becomes Eclectic on 89.9 KCRW in Santa Monica, California.
The second compilation of previously unreleased live performances from Morning Becomes Eclectic host Nic Harcourt's vast collection, KCRW: Sounds Eclectic Too features intimate versions of songs by many big-name artists, oftentimes when they weren't quite big names yet, recorded between March and June 2001. Dido (who sings a track from an album that came out in 1999, but didn't really do much in the States until 2001, with her appearance on Eminem's "Stan"), Norah Jones (whose debut, Come Away with Me, was released in 2002), Mexican singer Julieta Venegas, and Coldplay's Chris Martin all contribute soft, haunting songs, while R.E.M. and French electronica duo Air add their own practiced touch. Many of the ...
