| | Tracy Byrd Truth About Men CD Tracy Byrd Discography of CDs
Principally recorded at Emerald Sound Studios, Nashville, Tennessee.
Much like its half-dozen predecessors, Tracy Byrd's seventh album steers about as close to traditional country as it's possible to get and still hear your songs on the radio. Byrd's choice of songs here ranges from the sentimental ("Tiny Town," When You Go") to the Jimmy Buffet-style faux-reggae of "How'd I Wind Up in Jamaica," with nods to the old-fashioned drinking song in both "Drinkin' Bone" and a bonus live version of "Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo."
With its plain-spoken, honest-to-goodness quality country, THE TRUTH ABOUT MEN may deliver few surprises, but that's precisely what's reassuring and appealing about it. It's undeniably country music--there are no nods here to any contemporary trends past 1972--and Byrd's good-natured delivery and broad appeal ensure it'll receive a wide audience.

On this, his fourth release, contemporary country singer Kenny Chesney proves that he's got the kind of consistent musical vision and overall stick-to-itiveness that are necessary to make a permanent mark in Nashville. While Chesney surrounds himself with the same studio vets (Larry Byrom, Brent Mason, Matt Rollings, etc.) that accompany 90 percent of his contemporaries, I WILL STAND sets itself apart by ...
| | Dierks Bentley CD (2003) Enhanced CD
Truth About Men music CDs
$10.15 Though the front cover of country singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley's debut album finds him posing with a floppy-eared dog and looking like a prime-time TV star, he's considerably hipper than that image might suggest. For one thing, he doesn't employ the members of the Nashville studio mafia who seem to crop up on virtually every major-label country album. For another, he's no pre-fab artist; he co-wrote almost every song here, and for outside material he turned to estimable country mavericks Buddy & Julie Miller ("My Love Will Follow ...

"The Way You Love Me" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Song.
With her third album, FAITH, Faith Hill tasted pop crossover success--and she evidently liked the taste. BREATHE, Hill's fourth release, takes the pop/country stylings of FAITH to the next level. It's an appealing collection of pop, gospel, R&B, rock, and ballads, with just a bit of country thrown in. The production, featuring Hill's big voice surrounded by booming drums and screaming guitars, is so slick you could skate on it.
Love is the subject of nearly every song, from the exuberant "I Got My Baby," to the soulful "Love Is a Sweet Thing," to the cutesy "The Way You Love Me," with its Beatlesque backing vocals. But while Hill can obviously handle a wide range of material, she sounds best on the quieter, country-flavored numbers, like the title track, the lovely "It Will Be Me," and a haunting, vaguely Latin-flavored ...
