| | Mariah Carey Merry Christmas CD (1994)
Harry And The Potters songs
$8.75 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts through styles, offering fans from all musical camps a gift of their own. Her "Silent Night" shows off a studied vocalization where liquid phrasing is key. "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" shows off a dynamic voice that is hard to match. She has fun with the Phil Spector goodie "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," a song straight out of '60s girl-group heaven. There is even a "Joy To The World" medley mixing the old and the new--the traditional ...

| | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CDs (2009) Deluxe Edition
Harry And The Potters CD music
$16.24 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the other side of the Atlantic, which just emphasizes the otherness that's become Gaga's calling card. And even as she's becoming omnipresent, with her songs mingling with those who co-opt her on the radio, she still ...

Harry And The Potters songs
$13.05 On their second album Presents Exclusively Talentmaker, Optiganally Yours craft more dreamy, whimsical indie pop from ancient synths. This time, as the title suggests, the group works only with the Talentmaker, a keyboard that triggers celluloid discs with various sound effects and instruments recorded on them. The instrument's limitations work ...

Harry And The Potters album
$16.15 This set features an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
As the name of this live double-disc anthology implies, the nearly two-and-a-half hours of content offer the uninformed [read: young person] an opportunity to sample audio swatches from the various personnel and frakctalizations of King Crimson over a span of nearly three decades (1969 -- 1998). Rather than a strict chronology, the material is presented with an ear toward diversity and contrast. Both being qualities that the mighty Krim possessed in spades -- some might even claim, to a fault. Volume one -- which is creatively nicknamed "Neon Heat Disease" -- spans 1984 through 1998 including the Projekct One and Projekct Two frakctals. These were effectively side-groups involving participants of the double-trio '90s edition of King Crimson. A different facet of that particular lineup is explored within each "projekct" or frakctal. From Adrian Belew (guitar/vocals) comes the clever and often self-analytical wordplay of "Dinosaur," "Indiscipline," and "Three of a Perfect Pair." The rapid response of the full ensemble can be heard on the instrumentals "Red," "B'Boom," and the potent pairing of "Vrooom Vrooom" and "Coda: Marine 475." Projekct One -- consisting of Robert Fripp (guitar), Trey Gunn (touch guitar), Tony Levin (bass/Chapman stick/synthesizer), and Bill Bruford (drums/percussion) -- is the source for the languid and experimental improvisation "1 ii 2," while the trio of Belew (V Drums), Fripp (guitar), and Gunn (touch guitar/talker) unveil the promising works-in-progress "Deception of the Thrush" and "Heavy Construkction." Volume Two -- aka "Fractured" -- reaches further into Crimson's past. All the way back, in fact, as the 1969 debut incarnation erupt into "A Man a City" -- which for a brief time was the working name for "Pictures of a City" -- and the epic "In the Court of the Crimson King" with Fripp (guitar), Ian McDonald (flute/sax/Mellotron/vocals), Greg Lake (bass/vocals), Michael Giles (drums/percussion/vocals), and Peter Sinfield (words/illuminations). Then onto 1972 as mainstay Fripp (guitar/Mellotron) ...
