Flow Masters Vol. 1 album
$15.98 Number Ones replaces Design of a Decade, released 14 years prior. Excepting the new song "Make Me" (hard neo-disco/funk excellence), each song here was indeed a number one hit on Billboard's various charts, though "Got 'Til It's Gone" sneaks through a side door via the Japanese charts. One number one, oddly, is missing: "So Excited," a perfectly fine, 2006 single which topped the club chart. This set is more thorough with 1986-1996, too, adding Herb Alpert's "Diamonds" -- which would not have been out of place on Control, given Jam & Lewis' production and Janet's precedence over Alpert's trumpet -- as well as "The Best Things in Life Are Free" (with Luther Vandross) -- all ...

Flow Masters Vol. 1 songs
$14.79 Lest you believe Little Dragon lack an aesthetic spine, their shift away from low-key left-field hip-hop, plaintive piano ballads, and acoustic jazz--a combination that helped make their debut a cult classic--seems more natural after a couple spins. There's no way around the fact that most of MACHINE DREAMS is icy electro-pop, but it is not as if the truly singular Yukimi Nagano, ...
| | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Flow Masters Vol. 1 album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to White's achievements. Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes in the industry. And like Hayes, White spent a great deal of time setting up moods on his albums, using lush, sweeping orchestrations to build very gradually to climaxes. (Actually, ...
| | Best Of Sade CD (1994)
Flow Masters Vol. 1 CD music
$9.59 Digitally remastered by Tom Coyne (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
Nigerian vocalist Sade Adu has carved out a cosmpolitan niche for herself over the past decade, gathering together elements of cool jazz, samba, reggae, funk and pop all under the pastoral umbrella of her suede-and-velvet voice. A pop stylist with a musical universe all her own, Sade has endured and matured over the past decade, seemingly unaffected by changes in taste and fashion--a movement unto herself.
As her most recent single (Percy Mayfield's "Please Send Me Someone To Love" from the PHILADELPHIA soundtrack) illustrates, Sade's coy caressing voice speaks more of commitment and trust, of relationships in flux ("Nothing Can Come Between Us") than of the heat of the moment: from the the coy duplicity of "Smooth Operator" to the positive reinforcement of "The Sweetest Taboo" and the sweet ambiguities of "Love Is Stronger Than Pride."
Outside of Sade's mentholated vocals, it is the ...

Flow Masters Vol. 1 music CDs
$9.85 A CD clone of Chris Bartley's 1967 LP on Van McCoy's Vando Records. Collectables Records tacked the extra song "Love Me Baby" on to make it a baker's dozen with McCoy writing and producing every track. Bartley scored the first time out with "Sweetest Thing This Side of Heaven," a lilting ...
| | Jazz Butcher Glorious & Idiotic CD (2000)
Flow Masters Vol. 1 songs
$11.39 Glorious & Idiotic, a decent recording-quality live show captured for posterity in Hamburg, Germany, is less a triumphant return than a particularly inspired, quiet continuation. The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy, with songwriter Pat Fish (aka the Jazz Butcher himself) ever at the conspiracy's center, has been making sophisticated acoustic-punk-pop-jazz (à la Jonathan Richman if he spent more time bellying up to the bar) for nearly two decades as of this release. Glorious & Idiotic is the reunion of Fish, longtime cohort/vocal doppelganger Max Eider, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Owen Jones. This particular conglomeration of conspirators is responsible for some of the Jazz Butcher Conspiracy's finer, early-career recorded ...

$15.95 Jiant (pronounced "giant") is an exciting new Soul artist currently making his mark in the music world. Originally from New Jersey, this multitalented artist's musical journey began with piano lessons as a child and evolved as an adult into playing the guitar, keyboard, writing, producing, and singing. It was just a matter of time before he found himself musically and started working on his CD while playing regularly with his band. His music is an organic blend heavy on the Soul with elements of funk, pop, and jazz. The influences of Soul music's ...
