| | Miko Marks It Feels Good CD (2007)
Latinology album
$11.49 To say that 2006 was a banner year for Miko Marks would be a tremendous understatement. Being named "Female Vocalist of the Year" by Indie World in Nashville put the young star in the company of big names including Dolly Parton. A red carpet event at the historic Avalon Theater in Hollywood, California, marked Miko's win as "Best New Country Artist for 2006" by New Music Weekly Magazine. Her debut album, Freeway Bound for which she penned 7 of the 10 cuts, was named "Country Album of the Year" at the Independent Music Awards held in Montclair, NJ. Among the judges for the IMA’s were country legends Wynonna Judd and Patti Loveless. 2006 also saw the release of Miko’s first music video, “Mama”, which featured a cameo by vocalist/actress and Grammy Award winner Erykah Badu, who played the title role of “Mama”.Raised in Flint, Michigan, the nations’ industrial heartland, Miko first discovered her vocal prowess at a tender age, while her writing talents continued to sharpen with experience and maturity. Her lyrics are optimistic, personal and delivered by crisp, powerful vocals. Miko Marks is virtually incomparable as a performer, with vocal skills that shine crystalline without studio gadgetry. Her influences cross the barriers of generation, genre and race, while her live performances satisfy the toughest critics. Since signing her recording contract with indie label Mirrome Records, the singer/songwriter has worked a dizzying schedule with relentless determination and characteristic optimism. Miko has toured from California to Washington D.C. with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, done countless radio interviews, made TV network appearances on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, while also continuing to attend industry events worldwide, ranging from the CMA’s in New York City to MIDEM in Cannes, France. She’s also been featured in several national publications, Country Weekly, Ebony Magazine, Today’s BlackWoman, Sophisticate’s Black Hair, and Country Stars Online to name a few. Miko’s debut single, ”Freeway Bound”, received airplay in over 16 countries. International Radio Promoter, Comstock, reported, “never ...
