This was the end of the line for Bread. David Gates reunited one last time with James Griffin after a four-year hiatus spawned by a power dispute between the two lead songwriters. The band returned to form pretty well intact, with the Gates power ballad "Lost Without Your Love" cracking the Top Ten. It would be their last hit single. By 1977, the Bread formula was starting to sound dated, but despite the unevenness, completists and heartier Bread fans should seek and find this record. There's plenty of filler, but a couple of the Gates ballads stand out: "Hooked on You" and "Belonging" are trademark honey sweet singer/songwriter pop. James Griffin co-wrote three cuts with original Bread member Robb Royer, and their work, like "She's the Only One," has a somewhat grittier country rock feel that is lacking in the more pop-centric work of Gates. "Hold Tight" is the album's only true embarrassment -- an abortive attempt at disco-rock. Casual listeners can safely stick with the best-of collections (especially Rhino's Bread retrospective, on which Lost Without Your Love is adequately represented). ~ Jim Esch
Personnel: David Gates (vocals, guitar, violin, keyboards); James Griffin (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Larry Knechtel (guitar, harmonica, keyboards); Dean Parks (guitar); Michael Boddicker (keyboards); Michael Botts (drums); Tom Scott (wind).
Lost Without Your Love Music Bread Lost Without Your Love Songs Lost Without Your Love Music Review Average Rating: (4.9 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews 30 yrs. old and timeless A huge "thank you" to Wounded Bird records for re-releasing this beautiful album. It was originally recorded in 1977, after Bread had been apart for 3 yrs.
My husband, Michael Botts, was Bread's drummer. He inquired many times over the years why "Lost" was never re-released, as all the other albums had been. It took Wounded Bird Records to complete the task, and give all those loyal Bread fans what they obviously had been wanting for years. I cherish this CD, and the memories it brings back of a more tranquil time in our lives. Three decades old and still so enjoyable. Spread the word!

THE LAST ALBUM : To me , this last album is a good one but at the same time , whenever I listen to it , I sometimes get SAD . I feel that the group could've have had a longevity such as the Beach Boys or Elvis in terms of more albums, more tours and such. I like this album alot but is hard to listen to at times 'cause it makes me feel like they had so much more left in them to give us. Tim Submitted by TooLaneBlacktop (Little Rock , AR. Lost Without Your Love album
$9.69 (MP3 Available for Download) Bread's self-titled 1969 debut is somewhat atypical, compared to its later albums. Beginning with 1970's ON THE WATERS, David Gates, Robb Royer and James Griffin (with new addition Mike Botts, who doesn't appear on this album) created a smoothly commercial blend of harmonies, folk-rock gentility, and slick studio arrangements that resulted in a seemingly endless string of hit singles.

Lost Without Your Love MP3 Album
$9.69 No musicians are credited except for the associate producer title given to keyboard player Larry Knechtel and retaining Bread photographer, Frank Bez, as well as engineer Bruce Morgan, who played an important part in David Gates' First from 1973 (and who would engineer Bread's 1977 comeback, Lost Without Your Love ). The lead singer of the '70s very recognizable soft rock hit machine delivers his second solo disc, part of something a retailer once referred to as "breadcrumbs," the result of Bread's breakup. Certainly the solo recordings by James Griffin, Larry Knechtel, and Gates were nowhere as entertaining as the full band, but each time, ...

Lost Without Your Love songs
$9.69 First, David Gates "first" album away from Bread, begins with that distinctive voice and sound his band made famous when he was at the controls. On the initial track of this 1973 release, "Sailing Around the World," he sings "wish that I could start again." The problem here is that Bread had a groove, and a quick comparison is in order: Despite David Bowie's fame after splitting from the Spiders From Mars, rock & roll fans never felt the same way about that artist. So, too, with this soft rock maestro, and regardless of the on-key and in-control aspect of First, it's hard to get a handle on many of these nine original songs. It's a stellar cast behind the identifiable pop figure -- Jim Horn, Jim ...
