Kissing Future Of Love album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer -- though equally revamped -- version of "Singapore" from 1985's Rain Dogs. Musically, the performances are flawless, as is the sound on this set. The killer stage band includes Vincent Henry on woodwinds and harmonica, guitarist Omar Torres, Patrick Warren on piano ...
| | Sting If On A Winter's Night... CDs (2009) Digipak
Kissing Future Of Love CD music
$14.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. And it's that thoughtfulness that does distinguish IF ON A WINTER NIGHT...; no other Christmas album exists in the head like this. It's a holiday album for people who have never wanted to hear a holiday album, let alone own one.

Kissing Future Of Love songs
$7.96 Within a couple years, Canadian teenager Justin Bieber went from covering Usher on YouTube to working with Usher. An internet sensation from his renditions of several pop and pop-oriented R&B hits, he was still only 15 years old when he released this, his first album -- though it's more like an EP since it is contains only seven songs that are 25 minutes in duration. Given the comfort level he showed in the material ...
| | Rod Stewart Never A Dull Moment (Gold) CD (1972) Gold
Kissing Future Of Love album
$19.10 NEVER A DULL MOMENT picks up where EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY left off. Here we have more raucous rock & roll with healthy dollops of soul and twang thrown in for good measure. Always looking for a good songwriter to cover, Stewart's honorees here include Jimi Hendrix ("Angel"), Dylan ("Mama You Been On My Mind"), and Rod's personal hero, Sam Cooke ("Twistin' The Night Away"). Sidling up nicely next to these heartfelt interpretations are some of Stewart's finest original songs. Teaming with spiritual brother Ron Wood, Stewart offers up the cheeky "Italian Girls" and "True Blue," a track that goes along at a mid-tempo ...

| | Wet Willie Manorisms CD (1978)
Kissing Future Of Love CD music
$10.49 OK, they may not be the same Wet Willie that made sweaty, soulful rock & roll across the early '70s, but this incarnation of the band had its virtues -- not only was Jimmy Hall still in great voice, but he and keyboardist/vocalist/composer Mike Duke were joined on harmony vocals (a new element) by guitarist Marshall Smith and drummer Theophilus K. Lively. With guitarist Larry Berwald added to the mix with Jack Hall, as always, on bass and vocals, the result is an exceptional album -- Manorisms relates to Wet Willie's earlier work the way that Motown relates to Stax; it's all soul, but there's an achingly beautiful pop/rock element added here, and moments, on "Make You Feel Love Again" and "We Got Lovin'," where one may well get flashes of the Four Tops circa their debut LP or, better yet, their second album. It might not be as intense as and maybe it's a little less distinctly Southern than their earlier work, but it is fun and some of the harmonized blues, such as on "Rainman," is unexpectedly gorgeous. What's more, even their tribute to vintage rock & roll, "Street Corner Serenade" -- which should be too self-conscious by its very nature -- displays attributes of the group that are worth isolating, including some elegant harmonies. There is some of the "old" sound here as well, most notably the bracing "One Track Mind" and the hauntingly soulful "Let It Shine," and overall the album covers enough of the right bases that it's well worth hearing, ...
