Heaven has sent its best (Victoria Abril) and the devil his worst (Penlope Cruz), two rival agents battling for ultimate supremacy decided by whoever can secure the soul of Manny (Demin Bichir), a punch-drunk boxer on earth. These sexy angels pull no punches using their brains, wit and sex appeal to accomplish their missions. Defeating the temptations of the devil will be no easy task, as his recruits are led by the mastermind Jack Davenport (Gael Garca Bernal). Damnation has never been this seductive and seduction never more heavenly! Penlope Cruz, Gael Garca Bernal, Demin Bichir, Victoria Abril, Fanny Ardant and Bruno Bichir star. Penelope Cruz and Victoria Abril are arch enemies in the Faustian tale DON'T TEMPT ME. Sent to Earth to determine the fate of boxer Manny (Demian Bichir), Lola (Abril) is an angel from Heaven, and Carmen (Cruz) is a devil pulled out of the vortex of Hell. For Lola, the mission is a chore, a nightmare, and puts her at risk for losing her cushy celestial spot. For Carmen, it is a gift, a vacation, and the one chance she has for redemption. Manny is stuck in the middle of these two manic forces, who must influence his decision to either stick with his competitive boxing career and risk a brain hemorrhage, or quit and save himself. At either end of the spectrum are higher forces. Gael Garcia Bernal plays the slick and slimy Davenport (read: Satan), ruling the chaotic, violent red regions of Hell from which Carmen was sprung. In Heaven, a lovely white oasis of cabaret and leisure time, Fanny Ardant is a graceful Marina D'Angelo who encourages Lola with her singing career. A witty and amusing film in French (Heaven), Spanish (Earth), and English (Hell), with many moments of tongue-in-cheek insight on the battle of good versus evil, director Augustin Diaz Yanes has spun an entertaining yarn with DON'T TEMPT ME. $12.85 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, ...

$10.85 Blending martial arts and Chinese haute cuisine, THE CHINESE FEAST puts on a dazzling exhibition of cook-fu--rival chefs compete with acrobatic dexterity to turn ordinary dishes like beef chow fun and sweet and sour pork into culinary masterpieces. Cantopop singer Anita Yuen stars as a rebellious daughter with bad karaoke skills, while Leslie Cheung is a former loan shark who wants to learn to cook to impress his girlfriend. As in the cook-fu epic TAMPOPO, their attempts to be master chefs parody the pro forma training sequences in martial ...

$19.49 Cult favorites Fred Williamson (BLACK CAESER) and Bo Svenson (WALKING STAR) star in this Italian knock-off of THE DIRTY DOZEN. Arrested for crimes against the army, five World War II vets escape when their prison convoy is attacked by the Germans. Caught behind enemy lines, and not looking forward to serving prison sentences in their own countries, they decide to fight their way to neutral Switzerland. This zoom-happy exploitation pic later inspired Quentin Tarantino's long-gestating World War II project of the same name.
This 1978 international smash remains perhaps the biggest and ...
