A companion piece to 2006's well-received pop-oriented HAPPY FEET soundtrack, this release features composer John Powell's score for the animated film. Recorded with a full orchestra in Australia, these pieces echo Powell's majestic work on ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN (not surprising, given that both movies star snow-bound talking animals), as revealed on the dynamic, string-laden "Story of Mumble Happyfeet." A surefire delight for fans of both the film and the soundtrack.

Happy Feet (Original Score) Soundtrack music CDs
$26.99 On February 25, 1941, the Greek Relief Fund staged a benefit concert at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Greece had recently been invaded by Italy, and though the U.S. was still neutral in the Second World War, sympathy for the Allies was already running high. But the show served a second purpose, in addition to raising money for a good cause. ASCAP, which collects and distributes royalty income on songs, was locked in a dispute with the radio networks, and the organization had undertaken something of a public relations campaign. The previous fall, ASCAP had staged concerts in San Francisco and New York to mark its 25th anniversary at which many of its songwriters, who rarely performed their wares in public, turned up onstage along with some singing stars. The San Francisco shows were released ...

Happy Feet (Original Score) Soundtrack songs
$29.05 This original Broadway cast recording of the underrated Harvey Schmidt/Tom Jones musical 110 in the Shade dates from November 3, 1963, during the show's run at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City. It features Robert Horton as Starbuck, Inga Swenson as Lizzie, and Stephen Douglass. Based on Richard Nash play, The Rainmaker, 110 in the Shade tells the story of a heat wave in a Texan Panhandle town and the magical stranger who brings rain to town and romance to a spinster. The score has its blustery moments (most notably on the fun "Lizzie's Comin' Home," sung by her brother and father as they await her arrival at the train station), but it's the air of melancholy in the music that really typifies 100 in the Shade. At the same time, the show isn't a downer since everyone ends up happy in the end. The group chorus on "Everything Beautiful Happens at Night" is a standout, as is Inga Swenson on "Simple Little Things." While 110 in the Shade ...
