| | Babyshambles Blinding CD Babyshambles Discography of CDs
Remarkably, the 21st-century British bad-boy rocker Pete Doherty still had time to record this interesting five-song EP in between appearing in court on a grab bag of drug charges, destroying various hotel rooms, making paintings (with his own blood), and other tawdry rock-star behavior. The title track is a deceptively jaunty-sounding pop song about insecurity, with Doherty portraying a man seemingly trapped in his own celebrity, while the airy "Love You But You're Green" sounds almost Syd Barrett-like, "I Wish" is a surprisingly catchy ska song, and "Sedative" sounds tailor-made for a rock crowd singalong. Doherty's vocals sound reliably wasted throughout, and the band rocks competently in a louche, lovable junior Stones kind of way.
Babyshambles: Drew McConnell, Mick Whitnail, Peter Doherty (vocals, guitar); Adam Ficek (vocals, drum).

Blinding album
$5.99 Principally recorded at Media Sound, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Legs McNeil and Arturo Vega.
Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch and Bill Inglot (Digiprep).
The third of the Ramones' original quartet of albums, 1977's ROCKET TO RUSSIA is actually a big improvement over the slightly disappointing LEAVE HOME, released earlier in 1977. While not as solidly perfect as RAMONES, ROCKET TO RUSSIA contains very little fat and boasts possibly the finest songs in the band's entire repertoire, "Rockaway Beach" and the immortal "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker." "We're a Happy ...

Blinding CD music
$23.19 This two-CD set brings together all five of the band's 1977-1980 sessions for BBC radio, as well as a couple of late-'70s TV appearances on the BBC television show Old Grey Whistle Test (which are as good fidelity-wise as the radio broadcasts). Most of the material comes from their three albums, although there are a few items here and there that only showed up elsewhere in places like the Remains compilation or the Peel Sessions release. This concentration of multiple sessions over a short period of time does mean ...

| | Bob Dylan Blonde On Blonde CD (1966) Reissue; Remastered
Blinding songs
$9.49 Only a year after HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED, Dylan miraculously topped himself with further epigrams of surrealistic poetry and emotional intrigue. The pressure of a punishing touring schedule and high public profile helped drive him to an unbelievable fit of creativity as he spontaneously scribbled these gems in his hotel rooms. We were spoiled with a double album, more Dylan music than we had previously heard, yet still destined to endure. BLONDE ON BLONDE surrounds the folk-rock bard with the likes of Al Kooper, Robbie Robertson, Charlie McCoy and Kenny Buttrey, all seasoned musicians giving ...
| | Good, The Bad & The Queen Good, The Bad & The Queen CD (2007)
Blinding album
$9.89 Expectations run supremely high for a group like The Good, The Bad & The Queen. In addition to being Damon Albarn's first project since the Gorillaz, the GB&Q are also quite the super group, with Clash bassist Paul Simonon, Verve guitarist Simon Tong, and legendary drummer Tony Allen--the man who put the beat in Afrobeat--rounding out the line-up. Adding to this stellar cast is producer/DJ Danger Mouse, who mans the boards and twists the knobs.
The group's 2007 self-titled debut is supremely well-crafted, featuring deeply layered electronic textures that recall the Gorillaz at their most atmospheric and warp the propulsive piano ...

Blinding music CDs
$11.45 A ragtag collective of bugged-out, "savant-garde" rappers and trash-can producers known as Anticon -- short for anticonformist -- was born with the recording of The Taste of Rain...Why Kneel, and with it arose a clandestine revolution of anarchic, D.I.Y. hip-hop. Descending "from the outskirts of obscurity" (as the opening moments of "Deep Puddle Theme Song" explain) and converging -- by way of Cincinnati, the suburbs of Chicago, and Portland, ME -- in the Minneapolis living room of Atmosphere's ...

| | Little Steven's Underground Garage Presents The Coolest Songs In The World! Vol. 3 CD (2007)
Blinding album
$9.85 If Murray "The K" Kaufman host a series of great compilation albums featuring top singles in the '60s and the fabled CKLW-AM was able to do the same in the '70s, why shouldn't Little Steven Van Zandt, host of the best rock & roll radio show of the new millennium, bring this great tradition back to life? The Coolest Songs in the World, Vol. 3 doesn't have as many Top 40 hits as any given installment of Now That's What I Call Music (truth to tell, there aren't any actual "hits" here), but if you're looking for 47 minutes of high grade garage-centric rock, you'll find this to be fine value for money. As on a typical episode of Little Steven's Underground Garage, this disc covers a broad swath of garage-friendly noises, from the hard rock thunder of the Dictators ("The Savage Beat") to the Byrds-meets-the Beatles refinement of the Shake ("She's My Girl") -- and on Vol. 3, that's just the first two tracks! Further down the song list, the Woggles jump-start the party with "Got a Heat On," Back in Spades deliver some high-impact Motor City rock on "Detroit Slums (Here We Come)," the Fleshtones continue their endless East Coast frat rock bash in "Pretty Pretty Pretty," Manic Hispanic transform Rancid into a gang of batos locos on "Rudy Cholo," and the Sugar Twins present a delicious sunshine pop parody/tribute with "For You." There are 15 tunes here and even the least of them sound pretty fine in this company, and The Coolest Songs in the World, Vol. 3 is the best album yet in this series, offering top-notch listening for garage rock mavens and beginners alive. So when is "Little Steven Presents Gassers for Submarine Race Watchers" coming out? ~ Mark Deming
