The fourth of four CD reissues taken from Art Pepper's three nights at the Village Vanguard in July 1977, as with the other releases, adds one selection ("Scrapple from the Apple") to the music of the original LP; all of the performances on this and the other sets have since been made available as part of a massive nine-CD box set. The great altoist was clearly excited to be playing at the famous New York club, and his rhythm section -- pianist George Cables, bassist George Mraz and drummer Elvin Jones -- consistently stimulates his imagination. This release has more variety than usual, for in addition to his alto playing (including a memorable unaccompanied solo on "Over the Rainbow"), Pepper switches to clarinet for the lengthy "More for Les" and interprets the ballad "These Foolish Things" on tenor. The nine-CD set is essential for Art Pepper fanatics, but those just wanting a taste of the great altoist's talents will be satisfied with this release. ~ Scott Yanow

Gone are the rhythmic and harmonic trappings of bebop. In their place, Miles conjures a hypnotic, subliminal dance pulse and an airy, celestial drone of electric keyboards. On the first departure of his career since 1977's Oxygène, Jean Michel Jarre combined an actual band and processed vocal samples -- recorded in 25 different languages -- with his rich, melodic synthesizer pop. The rhythm is often propelled by guttural vocal snippets, as on "Ethnicolor" and "Zoolookologie." That's not half as disconcerting for those used to his previous work as the album's art-funk backing: Adrian Belew on guitar, Marcus Miller on bass, and Yogi Horton on drums, plus Laurie Anderson on one track. Though Zoolook is interesting throughout, the tracks with Jarre alone are often the best, reprising the classic Oxygène sound. ~ John Bush

Vision Statement: Our vision as young men of God is to reach and minister to others through gospel music. We strive to live for Jesus Christ through our musical journey. Growing up The Tampa Boyz (Tyrell, Joe, Justin, Nelson, Roger III, Travis, and Tony Jr.) observed some of the nation’s finest Gospel artist such as The Canton Spirituals, The Harmony Winds, and The Exciting Gospel Warriors. While witnessing the many gospel groups’ praise and worship God through music and song, seeds were planted in them throughout their childhood. As boys, they were captivated when watching and listening attentively to the gospel artists. Their passions for music lead these young men to sing in church and become musically inclined at an early. Shortly after the opportunities to become musicians for various gospel groups and churches in the Tampa Bay Area presented itself, this gave way to outlets for the enhancement of their musical abilities.
