I don’t even like coffee. The smell, anything with a frap, or mocha grande I really can’t stand. But yet I play mostly in coffee houses, that's irony. Welcome to my bio, my name’s Steve. In the summer of '06 I finished recording, after months and months of studio work, a jazzy pop acoustic album which I named California Sky. I’ve been playing out, doing shows, since the beginning of ’03. Slowly getting better every time until at last I can say that I’d listen to myself if that weren’t weird. My sound is best defined as intelligent folk-jazz, but lately I’ve been getting more and more into rock and I’ve been experimenting with effects and looping, building counter-melodies on top of each other. So I guess you could say that’s also my style. A couple of bands that have influenced my playing, singing and songwriting are: Jars of Clay, Paul Simon, Toad the Wet Sprocket, U2, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Dylan, Tifton Mile and the Adam Project. I've since recorded a more electric driven "rock album" which I've entitled Bride. Both are amazing records, well worth your time. However, if you’re still feeling uneasy about purchasing either of my records because you’ve “never heard of me”… just send me an e-mail and/or myspace message and I’ll give you my new record for free. –Steve California Sky Music | List Price | $15.97 (You save $3.32) | | Category | Folk Albums | | Label | CD Baby | | CD Universe Part number | 7339480 | | Catalog number | 109883 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 31, 2006 |

California Sky album
$10.29 www.juliecollings.co.ukinfo@juliecollings.co.ukFrom a young age Julie surrounded herself with music, listening to her parents Beatles, Melanie, Joni, Simon and Garfunkel LP's, she grew up admiring musicians who did more than just sing in studios and look pretty on the cover of magazines. Picking up her first acoustic guitar at the age of 12 she began to write and play her own songs and develop her knowledge and passion for the guitar. Always keen to write and play as much as possible, she spent a few years playing & co-writing songs in a variety of local bands. More recently... collaborations with established producer Rob Webster (Progress presents Boy Wunda & Retroesque Records) and The Basement tapes not only allowed Julie the opportunity to explore her talents within new genres, it has also proven her vocal & musical talent compliment many musical styles. Julie's main passion lies in getting out and performing her songs live. After receiving glowing responses at her first few solo gigs in 2002, Julie decided to record and release an Acoustic EP through her own label Perrito Records with each batch selling out quickly. Since her 2005 showcase gigs in London, she is fast gaining a diverse and fervent following, including Radio 2's Janice Long, who recently played Julie's track Simple things on her BBC Radio 2 show. Julie has been working hard on her eagerly awaited debut album Flotsam due for release next month (March/April 2006). NEW ALBUM COMING SOON!"Julie creates songs combining simple & evocative melodies with intriguing lyrics that draw on personal experiences and past relationships. Her gentle vocals are complimented by a musical style that is cultivated ...

California Sky music CDs
$12.39 "The Circus In Flames", explains Doug Andrew, "means everything going to hell. The Big Top's on fire, the clowns are stampeding and 'the hippos were boiled in their tanks'." The band's self-produced, self-titled debut CD, The Circus In Flames, has drawn rave reviews. Described by Dirty Linen as "a strong argument for indie release of the year" the disc also earned four stars from America's All Music Guide and CBC Radio has nationally broadcasted a live performance of the band in concert in addition to consistently airing the recording. The Circus In Flames' "unique but rooted musical vision" (Vue Weekly) has inspired the description "garage string band" but its sound can be difficult to pin down. Although there is a certain familiarity about the music stemming from its roots in traditional country, folk and blues, at its heart are Andrew's songs. Their "slightly twisted, always interesting storyline lyrics" are delivered "with an energetic thrust that falls just shy of reckless abandon" says Peter North of The Edmonton Journal. He is "an untapped talent for wryly observant story-like essays" writes The Vancouver Province's Tom Harrison while Warren Footz of SEE Magazine says Andrew's songs "should shuffle him off into the Canadian songwriting hierarchy." They stand on their own performed solo on guitar or can work within the context of a band. After the fall of Tin God, created out of the ashes of his former band, Shanghai Dog, Doug Andrew continued to write songs. When he was invited to perform at a friend's St. Patrick's Day party, he needed to pull together a group of talented musicians who could generate a powerful presence in an acoustic setting and provide an evocative vehicle for the lyrics. The Circus In Flames evolved from this necessity and retains the impromptu ...
| | United By Sound EP CD (2006)
California Sky songs
$9.59 Two people can make a lot of noise. That goes for any 2-year-olds on crack-cocaine as well as L.A. based band United By Sound aka UBS aka Jeni Ivey & Timo Ceniceros aka whoneeds3akas. The duo, joined onstage by Bassist Ian Burney and drummer Ira Miller, met in High School and that’s kind of cute but it wasn’t until 2004 that they decided to start a band that would embrace the diversity of music like a dog his own balls. That was in San Francisco and it’s a good thing that what happens in SF doesn’t stay there, because the UBS virus makes your ears look better (Warning: Might cause Motion). Defining their style is like asking ecstasy to…ah…take it a lil’ easier. It’s not in their nature. The good thing: It sounds more interesting. The bad thing: It makes writing bios like this one a bitch. But it’s about listening. Or throw it on the grill and eat it. You will taste soul, electro, dub-step, Crunk, experimental Rock, Trip Hop and maybe even a hint of folk. This particular dish ...
| | Lyle & Sparkleface Band The Lyle And Sparkleface Band CD (2006)
California Sky album
$17.75 Chapter One “The Lyle And Sparkleface Band”It was spring 1994 and after a long winter of what ever gigs they could get, and a healthy application of elbow grease,(as they say in the business) the band known as Creepy Lyle was finally meeting with success. They had developed a dedicated (some would use the word “hardcore”) following of transient gypsies, and had successfully garnered the reputation as couple punk twenty-something’s a bit two obnoxious for the burgeoning Portland brewpub scene. This all came boiling to a head in a series of riots that gripped the city for several minuets. Soon after the “Get out of Town, Creepy Lyle, Because you Suck!” riots , the band decided to take whatever instruments they had left, and moved from Portland Oregon to sunny southern California. It was there they would meet a man who would alter the bands fate forever. His name was Claus Hedtrom, and as I remember, he kept trying to get everyone to call him “Spooky.” I guess he thought it sounded more mysterious than Claus. Somehow the name never stuck. Anyway, Claus owned ...
