Standin' On The Shoreline album
$11.35 NIGHT CASTLE appears just in time for the big 2009 holiday season but don't be fooled: this isn't a Christmas album, even if it's sonically indistinguishable from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other seasonal releases, and the fact that it's been dubbed "Capra-esque" certainly brings it within the realm of the season. NIGHT CASTLE brims with all the drama, pomp, and circumstance of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other records but channeling ...

| | Pink Martini Splendor In The Grass CD (2009) Digipak
Standin' On The Shoreline CD music
$13.39 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, SYMPATHIQUE, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop. SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS' first half is especially smooth, opening with the beautifully soft Neapolitan ballad "Ninna Nanna" and the title track, on which Forbes sings "I think we should take it slow" over swooping strings, brass, and piano that resurrect the glory days of ...

| | Daystar Switchback EP CD (2006)
Standin' On The Shoreline CD music
$9.59 Daystar songs are written by co writer of channel 4's drama 'No Angels' theme tune. You could picture the street on a lazy hazy summer afternoon with the sunlight shining through the trees and be anywhere in post war suburban Britain. From out of a garage in the back garden of a 1930's built semi-detached house. over the sound of lawnmowers and Ice cream van melodies drifts the distant sound of 'Daystar'. This places us in Stockport, Cheshire, North of England, only its not summer and its raining. Outside there is a 1980's silver Daimler (which could be described as parked but also could have been abandoned) and once ushered inside through the house into the garage /studio the most striking aspect of the room is the way the 1967 metallic gold and chrome scooter spares blend harmoniously with the retro valve amplifiers, vintage guitars and keyboards. Here we discover 'Daystar' the first significant musical project to emerge from the 'Stone soup' forum conceived by musicians David Cooper and Phil Cuthbert. On this particularly freezing December morning 'Stone Soup' are taking us with Photographer Andrew Moseley to meet 'Daystar' front man Simon Monaghan on the platform of Manchester Deansgate station. 'I am quite a sensitive soul really, a deep thinker' Simon tells us, 'I was born from a rough area with quite a hard upbringing and as soon as I was old enough I just wanted to make something of myself and be accepted and liked by people. Music is one of the many ways I can communicate my emotions to everyone so people can see ...
| | Noel Iceberg Mr. Holland's Opium CD (2002)
Standin' On The Shoreline music CDs
$15.19 Shane Allen Iceberg was born and raised just outside of the "Motor City", Detroit, Michigan. As a child he dreamed of being a musician, but it wasn't until he was 16 that his dream would start coming true. Shane bought a bass guitar and taught himself to play, and within a few months he was performing regularly on the Detroit scene in the first of many local rock and roll bands. Since then Shane has been touring the nation with various artists and bands, performing as sideman or frontman playing lead guitar, keyboards, bass and/or harmonica. His résumé now includes such well-known names as Mitch Ryder, Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, Mindy McCready, Marty Haggard, and The Romantics, among others. Shane studied composing and music theory at the University of Florida where he also learned to play lute, viola da gamba, and acoustic bass. In the spring of 1995, Shane met Shannon Noël in Nashville, TN, and the two began writing and recording their songs together. What followed were a solo album by each, and the newly released "Mr. Holland's Opium". Iceberg's solo album, "Highway Songs", is best described as a blend of alternative-country and rock. It received extensive radio play in several states and in Europe. Immediately upon finishing "Highway Songs" (of which Iceberg was also the producer, engineer, and mixer), he began working on "Mr. Holland's Opium" - a project that seemed to have a life of its own right from the beginning. It led Iceberg and Noël down a different road than the previous albums had, and the finished result was a collection of songs more intimate and personal than either had anticipated. Reaction to "Mr. Holland's Opium" has been nothing but positive, proving what Iceberg and Noël had suspected all along - that they make an excellent team. Also produced, engineered and mixed by Iceberg, "Mr. Holland's Opium" is filled with energetic guitars, hypnotic rhythms and soul-baring lyrics. Shannon ...

Standin' On The Shoreline music CDs
$10.15 Oklahoma City singer-songwriter John Randolph merges pop, rock, folk, americana, and jazz. His lyrics honestly explore the depths of depression, but with optimistic self-revelation. He writes about the complexities of relationships, a desire for acceptance, and a longing for clarity. Using percussive rhythms and jazz progressions with accessible pop sensibilities, Randolph delivers expressive, Appalachian-tinged vocals. Raised in the Mid-Ohio Valley, John Randolph was handed his father’s trumpet when he was only two years old and surprised his family with one perfect tone. “My ...
