25 years after its original theatrical release, this classic animated fantasy film is presented in its best form ever - in digitally remastered widescreen. The voices of Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow, and Angela Lansbury are featured. Extras include mini-documentary, set top game, Schmendrick's Magical Gallery, original trailer, and more. Weary of being alone in the vast forest, unicorn Amalthea (Mia Farrow) begins to wonder if she's the last of her kind. Following a rumor, she joins forces with feeblish wizard Schmendrick (Alan Arkin) and wayward barmaid Molly (Tammy Grimes) to look for the mystical Red Bull, a creature known to hunt and imprison unicorns. In order to walk unnoticed among men, Schmendrick magically transforms Amalthea into a beautiful woman. Together the three embark on a adventurous journey into the dark land of King Haggard, the man rumored to control the Red Bull.
Based on Peter Beagle's novel of the same name, THE LAST UNICORN is a bright, colorful tale about love and loss. Farrow loans her fluttering voice indelibly to the lips of the unicorn, and Arkin is spot on playing the spell-casting wizard Schmendrick. The film also features the vocal talents of Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, and Angela Lansbury. Complete with an over-the-top soundtrack by the pop band America, THE LAST UNICORN is perhaps the high point of directors Arthur Rankin's and Jules Bass's film career. (They would soon move out of film to produce the two highly successful syndicated television series THUNDERCATS and SILVERHAWKS.) Last Unicorn Reviews: "...Mia Farrow brings an almost moving plaintive quality to the character....For an actress to register so strongly on voice alone is a rare accomplishment..."
-- Cart., Variety "...Unusually good....Imaginative spirit."

Great childhood memory This was a favorite of mine when I was a child. Although there are a few minor swear words in it, it is a great movie for older children. Submitted by jennalee73 (Las Vegas, NV, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

My FAVORITE movie! I was born 5 years after this movie was released out in theaters, but when my sister and I were about 5 years old, my mom took us to the movie rental store and we both loved the cover of this movie. After that, we rented this movie every other sunday night! Now at age 16, I have been trying to get back into my childhood, and my memory brought back this movie. I have been searching for weeks, and I have finally found it here! Thanks so much! Submitted by a reviewer (Southern California) Was This Review Helpful? Last Unicorn film
$9.69 Director Ridley Scott's lush fantasy film stars the young Tom Cruise as Jack, a peasant who lives in an enchanted forest with his beloved Lili (Mia Sara). One day, while quietly gamboling in a glade, the pair is distracted by the appearance of trolls, minions of the evil Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry). The cloven-footed, cavern-dwelling monster, long banished to the earth's nether regions, has sent the creatures on a mission to seize the horn of a unicorn, thereby plunging the planet into a frigid darkness over which he alone will reign. Things go from bad to worse as Lili succumbs to the forces of darkness, and Jack must assemble a motley band of elves to free her from bondage and return sunlight ...

$20.19 Five lesser known films from the legendary director are collected here.
Accompanied by an original organ score, THE MANXMAN was Hitchcock's last silent British film, marked by sharp characterization and suspense. On the Isle of Man, a lawyer and a fisherman, best friends since childhood, fall in love with the same woman--with disastrous consequences. This adaptation of a novel by Hall Craine was the last collaboration between Hitchcock and screenwriter Eliot Stannard.
RICH AND STRANGE: A rare light romantic comedy with Hitchcockian touches, RICH AND STRANGE tells the story of a young and bored married couple (Henry Kendall and Joan Barry) who inherit some money and set off on a trip around the world, only to discover--after having their respective affairs--that money can't buy happiness. The film was based on the novel by Dale Collins, but the film has often been interpreted as containing autobiographical elements from Hitchcock's marriage to his frequent collaborator Alma Reville and their honeymoon experiences cruising the Mediterranean.
THE SKIN GAME: This early Hitchcock talkie tells the tale of old money and new money feuding over a family estate in jolly class-conscious England. THE SKIN GAME closely follows the hit London play by John Galsworthy; for the film, Hitchcock was able to elicit superb performances from his stars in this study of the English family and the English class system. The film tracks a fierce rivalry between a landowner and his immediate neighbor, complete with nasty tactics, class-based hostility, and dirty secrets that beg to be unearthed.
MURDER! is a British suspense-mystery about a jurist who believes in the innocence ...

Last Unicorn DVD
$23.39 With its rivers of blood, this adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical isn't for the faint of heart--or stomach. But thanks to the black humor, impeccable production design, and gorgeous music, Tim Burton fans will want to sing after seeing SWEENEY TODD. For his sixth collaboration with the director, Johnny Depp stars as Benjamin Barker aka Sweeney Todd, a barber falsely imprisoned by Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman). After leaving prison, he comes back to Victorian London to find his wife poisoned and his daughter held captive. As he plots his revenge, Sweeney joins forces with Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), and while he preys on clients asking for a shave, his new partner turns the bodies into baked goods. But the judge still lives, and the razor-wielding madman wants his vengeance.
Though it's a musical, SWEENEY TODD has more in common with Italian horror films such as SUSPIRIA than it does with CHICAGO. Even the horror-musical hybrid LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS pales in comparison to the darkness found here. Previous Burton-Depp pairings have veered toward the macabre, but this reaches a glorious new level. Though they've made excellent films apart, their partnership has produced some of their best work, including EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, ED WOOD, and now SWEENEY TODD. Depp demonstrates ...
