A YANK ON A POMIE SHIP I have searched for this movie for along time and really enjoyed it By maurie (rye. victoria. australia)
Great Movie A great movie from Hollywoods classic period. I love how they make the ship models look real without the use of computers like they do today. By jvlip3d (Milford,CT 06460)
Ship Models The ship models are the real stars of this film. Some one spent a lot of time & effort to make the ships look very real. The camera angles are done to give the ships the proper sense of scale on the sreeen. It is a shame to watch all of that wonderful work get blown to pieces great battl scenes. It was a very enjoyable film and Gregory Peck, Viginia Mayo add a bit of sparkle. Great fun - By gulfstreams (SE PA)
Good fun, good entertainment This film may be short on realism, but it is good fun all the way. Peck may be the ONLY captain of His Majesty's navy under which any of us would like to have serve (the REAL British Navy of the Napoleonic Era was not exactly the ideal job). Nonetheless, this is a captivating adventure story that is the whole package with Peck at his gallant best and a beautiful Virginia Mayo to add a love interest. Plenty of swordplay, naval battles and realistic action (how about the rigging falling from several stories to crush sailors on the decks below) combine with engaging characters all done up in typical 1950's Hollywood style. I can't figure out how Mayo manages to stay perfectly dressed with impeccable make-up while on board ship, but hey, it's HOLLYWOOD! By Mike (West Chester, PA, USA)
