Inspired by the post-Los Angeles riot writings of a real Long Beach, CA high school class, the film adaptation of Freedom Writers follows a group of African-American, Latino and Asian inner city students, and their interactions with each other, as well as their teacher Hilary Swank. The soundtrack features reliable cuts from Cypress Hill ("When the Ship Goes Down"), Digable Planets ("Rebirth of Slick [Lenky Remix]") and 2Pac ("Keep Ya Head Up"), as well as a new track from Common featuring will.i.am called "A Dream" that samples Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous speech. ~ James Christopher Monger Freedom Writers Soundtrack Music Freedom Writers Soundtrack Songs Freedom Writers Soundtrack Music Freedom Writers Soundtrack Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Freedom Writers Lover I really enjoyed this movie and its my fav. I love the story line and the fact that it is a real story I love it. I do Believe that a teacher could make that big of a difference and I was proved right because this is a true story. I think that if every teacher tried as hard as her then this world would be better off. Submitted by Kass (London) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful.

Not For Me The movie was terrific but the soundtrack doesn't even match it. This soundtrack is mostly rap and R&B and that was in the movie but the movie had so many better songs that they could have put on it. This soundtrack was very disappointing. :( Submitted by Hailey Skyba (Waukesha, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 3 found this helpful.

Besides deft, pitch-perfect hit songs, the talented if volatile Destiny's Child was remarkable for its unpredictability, not always a defining characteristic of mainstream R&B. While there was certainly a formula at play in the songs, the structure was ...

Freedom Writers Soundtrack music CDs
$10.59 Any young R&B performer that can get Aretha Franklin to introduce his debut album must be doing something right. Although Trey Songz's I GOTTA MAKE IT opens with "A Message from Aretha," an uplifting bit of advice from the soul legend, the record isn't an old-school outing; this is hip-hop-inflected contemporary R&B in the R. Kelly vein.
The smooth, catchy single "Gotta Make It" appears twice here, first as a collaboration between the gently crooning Songz and the lightning-fast ...

| | Emile Pandolfi Once Upon A Romance CD (1992)
Freedom Writers Soundtrack CD music
$12.59 A poet of popular music, November 1, 2005 Emile Pandolfi plays show tunes, movie music, and the Great American Song Book, like no one else. He even includes the occasional classical selection, which is inevitable, as he is a classically trained artist in the traditional sense. Pandolfi's dexterity at the keyboard is highly polished; yet one hardly notices. One does notice his gorgeous tone, which seemingly knows no depth; his pianissimo playing, which I can tell you, reaches all the way to the back of the hall; his massive fortissimos, which always leave the impression that he has more to give; his melting legato touch, which makes the piano sound like anything but a percussive instrument; and his seemingly limitless imagination. Once you've heard Pandolfi's presentation of a song, it will be difficult for you to imagine it any other way. Partly, this results from his own imagination: he is able to listen to music and lyrics with such freshness, even to the punctuation of lyrics, that he understands what many of us pass over. Then, he brings the resources of his technique, his sound-all ...

Freedom Writers Soundtrack CD music
$17.75 "One of the most appealing female singers to emerge from the Atlanta area in recent years has to be the relatively unheralded Lindsay Rakers. With a sweet, girl-next-door personality and a knack for penning irresistibly catchy tunes, she radiates a warmth and sincerity in her voice that calms your innards and makes you wanna kiss strangers and give to charity. Supported by an accomplished but pleasantly non-flashy band – guitarist Mark Evers, drummer Ron Burns, and bassist Jeff Hall – Rakers dwells in conventional pop-rock with slight country undertones that, interestingly, shine stronger when the band plays live, when they almost come ...
