Chance, accident, circumstance… perhaps.The members of the contemporary Christian group Trinity Session maintain however, a purposeful and divine plan has something to do with their formation. Bound together by their common beliefs, passion for inspirational music and desire to positively impact younger generations; the eight-piece ensemble follows a mission to serve and evangelize through uplifting and contemplative song. Based upon a foundation of musical worship, the group’s name honors its inspirational source and echoes the three fundamental parts of its composition: voice, instrument and faith.Fronted by the captivating voices of four spirited young women, Trinity Session features resonant four-part harmony as the mainstay of the group’s modern, dynamic sound. Calling the pastoral landscape of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania their home, the girls have an intertwined history centered within their membership at historic Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Although several of the members began their friendships earlier, their musical paths crossed in 1995 with the development of an acoustic, contemporary choir for their hometown church. Inspired by the visionary ministry of their pastor, the earliest renditions of the group explored a diverse palette of musical genres, challenging their fellow church members with reinterpretations of traditional hymns. In time, a broader vision became evident to the core members of the ensemble, as they maintained the conviction to move beyond the walls of their own worship space and minister also to a larger community.In 2001, six years after first collaborating within the larger acoustic choir, the ensemble disbanded providing an opportunity to reassemble the foursome with a fresh approach. Adding the instrumental support of a four-man acoustic and electronic backing band, the new incarnation has developed a more sophisticated sound, drawing inspiration from popular contemporary music. As two of the four women are backed by their musician husbands, the group’s chemistry draws from its roots in common friendship, faith and family.As their hearts are led to bring their inimitable sound and tireless conviction to receptive audiences, the members of the group maintain their creation stems from a specific calling, ultimately under the direction of a greater Trinity session.
