$17.89 Best mix of Latin rhythms !BOHEMIO LATINO was founded by PORFIRIO OTERO in Kiev-95, when he was studying there. By that time Porfirio had already written many songs. His first entire album,HARMONIA TROPICAL;was published in 97 in Finland. The principal idea of Porfirio´ s songs is to combine traditional rhythms from his own country Nicaragua and Latin America with classic European music. This album is a delicious mix of Latin rhythms:cumbia, son, bolero, rumba, mambo, Nigaraguan mazurka and two traditional Mexican mariachi folksongs 'Flor sin retono' and 'Gavilan Poller' with original Mexican instruments: vihuela and gitarron. CD-EL TROPICOPresents widely the Latin rhythms ofcumbia, son bolero, rumba, mazurkaand mariachi-music. The leader of the band, Porfirio Otero, has written a collection of songs that goes together well withfor instance the evergreen ' Historia de un amor'. Among the musicians in the band we find the Cuban bassist Carlos D´ l Puerto, who co-foundedthe legendary group Irakere. After 28 years with the Grammy award-winning Irakere,D` l Puerto decided to put the technique of electric bass playing and Cuban music into textbooks and conservatory courses. At the beginning of the new millennium he found a new residence for himself in town of Turku, the former centre and capital of Finland. From Turku, this bass player has lectured at the most prestigious music colleges, conservatories, bass clinics and music festivals all over the world, as well as focusing on the local and national institutions of musical learning, orchestras and concert halls in Finland. RHYTHM- THE VOICE OF LATIN MUSICAnthony Johnson, the British arranger of the CD, always starts his work from the rhythm. He thinks that the rhythm is the voice of latin music. Improvising is important but not so common. It plays a big role in jazz, where improvising is very important. The centre of the music is in melody and harmony while the rhythm takes care of itself.Anthony Johnson is not surprised at all of the great popularity of Latin ...

$16.19 The exceptional success of Flores de Alquiler (2004) -- an album that spawned four major hits and remained firmly lodged in the upper reaches of the Latin album charts for a couple years, all the way until mid-2006 -- couldn't have been easy for La Quinta Estación to follow up. Yet the Mexico-by-way-of-Madrid rock en español trio indeed came up with a satisfying follow-up album, El Mundo Se Equivoca, that duplicates much of what made Flores de Alquiler so successful without sounding like a blatant retread. Certainly, the bright and upbeat "Tu Peor Error" kicks off the album with as much horn-tinged zest as "El Sol No Regresa" did Flores de Alquiler; the soaring singalong hook of "Para No Decirte Adios" stands out several songs in, not at all unlike how the hook of "Daría" also stood tall several songs in; and the following song, the spare ballad "Sueños Rotos," is a sure show-stopper that likewise soars vocally, just like "Algo Más," sequenced as it was right after "Daría." Yet there are enough differences between these songs, not to mention the remainder of El Mundo Se Equivoca and Flores de Alquiler, that likely only a ...
