Additional personnel: Willie the Kid, Detroit Red, Mac Maine, Drama, Freeway, The Juice, Pharrell Williams, Remy Ma, Juelz Santana, Currency. Philly-born, Atlanta-based DJ Drama soared to the heights of the mixtape world in a lightning flash with his swirling, raw, crunked-out remixes featuring a practically unfathomable cast of rap luminaries. DEDICATION 2, co-hosted with Lil Wayne-at the height of the gravel-voiced MC's ascendancy, no less-is the best example of the young hip-hop lion's startling skill. The affair reaches a washed-out high on the spare track "Cannon," where two of the best, Wayne and Freeway, along with an embarrassment of other rappers, trade rhymes. Dedication 2
$10.39 Personnel: Lil Wayne (rap vocals); Mannie Fresh, Baby (rap vocals). It would be easy to read too much into the title of Lil Wayne's fourth album, especially in light of a mixtape (cunningly titled The Prefix) that preceded this, which featured the MC over a handful of tracks off Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's Black Album. The title actually refers to Lil Wayne's actual last name (hint: it isn't Wayne), in addition to referencing the apartments run by Wesley Snipes' character in New Jack City. Although much has been made about Wayne's growth and new world view, there's about as much change as you'd expect from a Southern rap star who has been in the public eye from his late teens to his twenties. Mannie Fresh's stout production is in effect as ever, and to the MC's credit, the rhymes are less measured and are all the better for it. To beat that dead horse one more time, the album ...

$10.15 It seems like T.I. hasn't gotten any rest since he hit it big with his sophomore release--2003's TRAP MUZIK. With an impressive array of LPs, mixtapes, countless guest spots, and enough industry legwork on his Grand Hustle label in the meantime, the self-proclaimed "King of the South" has been steadily putting in work. With the follow-up to his multi-platinum smash, KING, T.I. carries a concept, pitting one persona against the other on the fittingly titled, T.I. VS. T.I.P. Speaking alternately as the rap industry mogul who moves millions and the street-corner hustler who just can't get the hood out of him, the ATL native is smart to slyly examine this duality on his own--a dilemma that has been known to dog the most successful hip-hop artists under the umbrella epithet "sell-out." Mannie Fresh, Lil C, Just Blaze, the Runners, Keith Mack, Danja, Eminem, and Jeff Bass are among the varied contributors whose production work makes T.I.'s fifth solo LP bang. T.I. VS. T.I.P. also features cameos from an array of superstar guests including Jay-Z, Eminem, Nelly, Alfa Mega, Busta Rhymes, and ...
