On Tomorrow album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols ...

On Tomorrow songs
$11.49 EUDORA features tracks previously available only as vinyl B-sides, imports or on various artist compilations.
In the communal world of indie-rock, between split singles, compilations, and the odd live favorite, the truly tenacious band can amass an overwhelming surfeit of residual rock. Kansas City's Get Up Kids are a prime example; over just a couple of albums and an equal number of EPs, the foursome racked up an inordinate number of such tracks up to 2001. Far from being mere byproduct, the covers, random tracks, and alternative versions collected on EUDORA are some of the most interesting work of one of the more intelligent bands balancing on that edge between pop and punk.
While covers are the staple diet of punk bands, the Get Up Kids don't merely belt out over-caffienated versions of their favorite songs, but subtly restructure ...
| | Jesus & Mary Chain 21 Singles: 1984-1998 CD (2002) (Import) Remastered
On Tomorrow album
$12.65 Not content to get regular day jobs, Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid (both on vocals and guitar) founded the Jesus & Mary Chain. The band's first single, "Upside Down," issued in 1984, was a mission statement of sorts, with squalls of guitar feedback looming over cool, detached singing and a lumbering beat. The group soon became UK music press darlings, largely due to their volatile live gigs. Over the years, the JAMC lineup changed numerous times (even including Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie briefly), and the Reid brothers began relying less on distortion and more on melody.

| | Thongs In The Key Of Life Vol. 3-Thongs In The Key Of Life CD (2006)
On Tomorrow CD music
$18.95 It has been almost five years since Thongs In The Key Of Life, Vol. II and a surprising seven years since the release of the original Thongs In the Key Of Life compilation. Has it really been that long? It doesn't seem like it . Many of the outstanding songwriters featured on those two collections remain my personal favorites. In recent years, I also have been privileged to have heard many of those artists perform their songs live. I never get tired of hearing them play. Despite my appreciation for the music, and even the amount of time since the last Thongs project, I must admit that I was somewhat hesitant about once-again trotting down the path to the musical beach. Well-received or not, I didn't want to put together another project that was more of the same -- same writers, same rhythm, same tempo, same anything. If anything, I wanted the closest resemblance to be similarly different. Over the years, a wide range of friends, acquaintances and beverage-holding ...
| | Carmen Fandangos In Space/Dancing On A Cold Wind CDs (1988)
On Tomorrow music CDs
$15.79 Ludicrously ahead of their time, even in the experimental early '70s, Carmen were unlike anything else on the scene, least of all the American scene. The Allen siblings, David and Angela, were raised on flamenco, forming Carmen in 1970 as a way to meld their roots with their love of rock. Unable to find a label in the U.S., the group decamped to London in 1973, hooking up with Tony Visconti, who recorded the band's debut album Fandangos in Space that summer. Songs like "Poor Tarantos" and "Sailor Song" beautifully showcase David's exquisite flamenco guitar, while "Bulerias" and "Retirando" capture the Spanish flavor along with the rock leanings of the group. The title track, in contrast, highlights their more operatic bend, a styling that Queen would more successfully exploit. "Fandangos" also boasts a decidedly funky rhythm, and its the album's shifting, intricate, ...

| | Yardbirds Over, Under, Sideways, Down CD (1998) Digipak
On Tomorrow album
$16.29 Original US LP release was titled "Over Under Sideways Down".
This 31 track collection features the original 12 track album from 1966 in a mono version, then the entire album in a stereo version, including 5 bonus single tracks by Keith Relf, as well as 2 mono tracks that open the disc.
By the time the Yardbirds recorded ROGER THE ENGINEER in 1966, the British Invasion was in full swing. Like their brethren, they targeted Chicago blues as ground zero for musical inspiration. As a result, most Yardbirds recordings and live sets were chock full of numbers by the likes of Sonny Boy Williamson, Chuck Berry, and Elmore James. ROGER was a departure for the band, as all the material was self-penned.
With guitarist Jeff Beck leading the charge (having replaced departed blues purist Eric Clapton), the Yardbirds began exploring the possibilities of electric guitar and of rock in general. The Middle Eastern garage rock of "Over, Under, Sideways, Down" bumps up against the rockabilly swing of "Jeff's Boogie." Alongside Beck's thrilling guitar histrionics, there's the genteel English pastoral feel of "Farewell" and a quirky instrumental bubbling over with jazz bass, a rubbery-sounding beat, and chanting--"Hot House Of Omagarashid."
