Sweden is seldom at a loss for extreme metal acts, with the latest group to join the fray being aptly named Coldworker. Members of Phobos, Nasum, Relentless, and Ruin joined forces to create the death/grindcore brutality presented on 2007's THE CONTAMINATED VOID. Shortly before the album's U.S. release, the twisted branches of Sweden's death metal tree became even more gnarled when Daniel Schroder (also of Ruin) replaced Andre Alvizini, who left the band to join fellow Swedish deathers Carnal Grief.

| | Decapitated Organic Hallucinosis CD (2006)
Contaminated Void CD music
$13.85 With the departure of their founding vocalist -- the heartwarmingly named Sauron -- the remaining members of Polish death metal veterans Decapitated have apparently decided to mark the installment of his successor, Covan, with a wholesale change of direction for their fourth studio album, Organic Hallucinosis. Launching off of their new frontman's more versatile skills in delivering various stages of deathly grunting, the band has stepped up the complexity of their songwriting to match, while establishing a non-traditional death metal aesthetic somewhere between the lopsided time signatures of Meshuggah and down-tuned power grooves of Pantera. And even though the exceedingly challenging results don't usually make for ideal moshpit conditions, intellectual onslaughts like "A Poem About an Old Prison Man," "Day 69" and "Flash-B(l)ack," do promise hours of gradual interpretation for those inclined towards thinking man's extreme metal. They also lack nothing in terms of intensity or brutality, only rarely exposing ...
| | Intronaut Void CD (2006)
Contaminated Void music CDs
$12.49 Released without warning or hype in January of 2006, Intronaut's debut EP, Null, helped get the year started on the right foot, and instantly nominated the brand new group for the exalted office of Extreme Progressive Metal Ministers, only recently vacated by Atlanta's increasingly mainstream-embracing Mastodon. With their full-length follow-up of barely six months later, the logically named Void, Intronaut arguably consolidated their candidacy with seven new tracks of equal, if not greater compositional merit than what had come before -- although their debt to Mastodon's early works, as well as predecessors like Today Is the Day and Lethargy, remained not only obvious but, some may argue, overpowering. In any event, notable Void offerings like "Gleamer," "Nostalgic Echo," and "Rise to Midden" proved almost as demanding, yet rewarding, to digest, as they no doubt were for Intronaut to conceive and perform: positively head-spinning in their technicality and improbably heavy, to boot. But, as was the case with that promising EP, these challenging songs ...

Contaminated Void album
$16.45 Scott's music is folk-jazz, fingerstyle six and twelve string guitar, interweaving rhythm with haunting melody, taking you on an inward journey.Scott was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, October 26, 1958. He was raised in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee. He began studying guitar at age 8. His first guitar was a 3/4 size Epiphone acoustic. In 1968 his parents bought him his first electric guitar, a Gibson SG Junior. At the age of 12 Scott formed a garage band called Stalled Vehicle and was busy playing the hits of the day. In his senior hear of high school he took Music Theory and started writing music. Scott and his friends formed a band called The Seventh Circle, and recorded original music for the first time. Shortly after high school Scott began drifting away from electric guitar. In 1978 he discovered a recording on a small label called Takoma Records, featuring 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar, by the founder of the label, John Fahey, also featuring Leo Kottke and Peter Lang. It lit a fire under him. In 1979 Scott studied Flamenco guitar for a year at the Milwaukee Conservatory, where he learned to use his fingers, instead of a pick. In 1980 he released his first album, "Sailor's Dream", which received air play in Milwaukee and was sold through the local music outlets. In 1981 Scott packed up and headed to southern California to pursue his dream. In 1986 he moved north to the San Francisco Bay area, where he lived for 15 years. In 2002 he moved to Bellingham, Washington, where he recorded material relaeased in 2007 on his second recording, "Sound Shadows", featuring six and twelve string guitar.Oddly enough, 26 years after the recording ...
