A staggering 21 tracks long, the Bassholes' 1998 double-album, WHEN MY BLUE MOON TURNS RED, doesn't expand on the group's punked-out blues sound so much as hammer it down into a definitive statement of purpose. There are detours throughout, as on the brooding, Hammond-soaked "Swimming Blues" and the totally unexpected Joy Division cover, "Interzone," but drummer Bim Thomas and singer/guitarist Don Howland bash and wail through each twist and turn with equal aplomb.
