| | Halford III: Winter Songs CD (2009) Special Edition; Digipak
Did Tomorrow Come CD music
$13.58 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. That said, the Judas Priest frontman approaches yuletide standards like "We Three Kings" and "What Child Is This?" with the same conviction that he applied to Priest classics like "Electric Eye" and "Freewheel Burning" -- it probably helps that most traditional Christmas hymns tend to ...
| | Lita Ford Wicked Wonderland CD (2009) Bonus Tracks
Did Tomorrow Come music CDs
$14.19 Though former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford has been absent from the recording industry since 1997, she hasn't exactly been idle. After releasing Kiss Me Deadly, her final album after a string of them in the '80s and '90s, the music scene -- and the industry with it -- changed, and alternative ruled the airwaves. Ford got married to Jim Gillette, former vocalist with hair metal rockers Nitro, and started a family. In addition, she relocated to the Caribbean. Wicked Wonderland is uncharacteristic of the pop-metal she released a decade ago. It's an in-your-face metal record, but ultimately it's a very studied and calculated 21st century pop-metal record. It's an album with explicit sexual content, examining S&M, bondage, power exchanges, and all manner of kink and crave in lyrics, words, and sleeve images. Ford wrote all of these songs with her co-producers Greg Hampton and Gillette. Gillette is also either a duet partner or backing vocalist on every track here. Hampton handles bass, keyboard, and other sonic duties, and there are a pair of drummers who alternate in Chris Collier and Stet Howland. The album's first single (and longest track), "Bed," was released exclusively to Stockroom.com, one of the leading suppliers of S&M and bondage gear on the internet. Ford claims that she and her ...

September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound as CREATURES, but with a slightly more polished feel. "Exciter" kicks off the album with a machine gun riff, which leads into Gene Simmons proclaiming he's "Not For The Innocent". The ...

| | Crooklyn Vol. I CD (1995) Original Soundtrack
Did Tomorrow Come songs
$9.15 Produced by A Tribe Called Quest, the soundtrack for Spike Lee's 1994 ode to the borough of his childhood is one of the most evocative in existence (and one of the more delightfully diverse soul collections to boot). The album is bookended by excellent and incongruent original tracks, opening with the title track, a stark rap single by the Crooklyn Dodgers, a supergroup consisting of Special Ed, Masta Ace, and Buckshot, closing on the jazzy-reflective pop R&B of "People Make the World Go Around." In between lie classics from artists ranging from Curtis Mayfield to the Staple Singers to the Chambers Brothers, the mix telling a story of its own of struggle and revolution, hope and survival. It's ...

| | Robbers On High Street Fine Lines CD (2004) Extended Play
Did Tomorrow Come CD music
$6.39 Robbers on High Street deliver a crunchy set of genuine rock & roll spirit on their debut EP, Fine Lines. The New York foursome refrain from going for that fashion-slick city sound made popular in the new millennium by the likes of the Strokes and Interpol. Honestly, Fine Lines is a solid record because the band is tight enough to pull it off without anything other than what they're offering: cinematic lyrics soaked in surefire guitar licks from frontman Ben Trokan and Steven Mercado. Bassist Jeremy Phillips and drummer Tomer Danan accentuate Fine Lines' elasticity, therefore suggesting that Robbers on High Street are confident in their craft. Don't quickly dismiss it as cockiness. Fine Lines is based more on an imaginative desire to formulate, carefully and correctly, a design that's fresh. Songs such as the majestic horn-laden "A Night at Star Castle" and "Debonair"'s dark pop flair succeed in that. "Hot Sluts (Say I Love You)" ...
