(1 Customer Review)
The third major Erasure release in three years, 2007's ON THE ROAD TO NASHVILLE continues a remarkably prolific streak for the British synth-pop duo. This live DVD/CD set, recorded in Music City's landmark Ryman Auditorium, works as a companion piece to UNION STREET, and once again finds Vince Clarke and Andy Bell in an unlikely, but intriguing, acoustic setting. Highlights of the audio disc include the swooning "Boy," the shimmering "Tenderest Moments," and a beautifully spare version of the hit "A Little Respect," all of which shine the spotlight on Bell's emotive vocals. In addition to a documentary, the DVD also presents a number of bonus performances, making NASHVILLE essential for any devoted Erasure fan.
This set was recorded live from Erasure's Union Street Acoustic Tour on May 2, 2006 in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. The set features never before seen audio and video of reworked hits and live favorites. The DVD features the visuals of this concert, along with 4 bonus songs, as well as the short film The Road to Union Street directed by Rich Schlankser and Michael Slavens.
Erasure: Andy Bell (vocals); Vince Clarke (guitar, mandolin, melodica).
Additional personnel: Steve Walsh (guitar, mandolin).

On The Road To Nashville
$12.49 Eleven Minutes Away waste no time in showing the listener that they are a band in the vein of fellow Canadians Alexisonfire or a more subdued Billy Talent. The first track "Atrophy Acetylene" features the screams of frontman Chris Veska but then evolves into a melodic track with snippets of intensity. The metal guitar riffs kick in halfway through, slightly shifting gears. Fans of Jimmy Eat World would adore the power pop of "I'm a Doctor, Not a Doorstop" with its tight melody in spite of Veska's incessant screaming. Too often, though, the songs come off as too perfected, too polished and a tad over-produced. This is especially true during the catchy and radio-friendly "P.S. I Hate You," as the chorus is the only redeeming ...

After writing a few hits it was time to record. Along comes Corey, who was to record three of the hit songs and fill in on bass for the recording. As it would be, in the process of recording, the three became aware of the powerful unit that they could form. A year later the 3 hits became 20 and a 14 song cd was recorded, packed full of warm up your car, turn up your stereo, let's go to Vegas music. In the next years, MYSW will be playing out as much as possible, in town and out of town. They will be building a following and ...
