| | Melanie Joy Magic CD Melanie Joy Discography of CDs
Melanie Joy has opened the secrets of her soul... just for you. Experience the intimate lyrics and swirling melodies that are shrink-wrapped in "Magic." Based on her life stories and dreams, Melanie's new album unfolds with quirky tales, eloquent metaphors, and streams of consciousness. The songs are delivered by a sweet young voice, floating on haunting string and piano melodies. It's as if she were the love-child of Brian Wilson and Kate Bush! Having been part of two consecutive musical duos since 1995 (The Tunnel Theory and Moon in Pisces), Melanie finally went solo in 2003, and brought an astonishing new power to her music. As CityTV news journalist Carey Campbell comments, “Finally hearing Melanie's vocals front and centre have completed the music for her listening audience. This is the way it should be. It's no longer about ‘the lyrics,’ ‘the piano,’ ‘the vocals,’ ‘the harmony,’ ‘the depth.’ The pieces all fit. It's about the music of Melanie Joy and it is ornate, moving, and lovely.” Melanie has shared the stage with the likes of Andy Kim, Alan Frew, and Spirit of the West. Somehow she also found time to earn a Master's degree in writing. Since graduating, however, she has devoted herself entirely to music. "Magic" features the talents of drummer Gary Craig (Anne Murray; Jann Arden; Bruce Cockburn), guitarist Marc Ganetakos (Nelly Furtado; Mad Violet), cellist Kevin Fox (Chantal Kreviazuk; Danny Michel; Dahmnait Doyle), violinist Alex Cheung (Julie Crochetiere), bassist Rob "the Bubba" Brown (Agents of Groove), co-producer and guitarist Peter Linseman (Mia Kulba; Cristie Healey), and Melanie on piano.By the time "Magic" was complete, co-producer Peter Linseman had signed Melanie Joy to a management deal with his company Music Mentor Productions. More recently, Melanie signed a national distribution deal with Bullseye Records. Bullseye distributes through Fusion 3 Distribution (Canada), Burnside Distribution Corporation (US), and Revolver/Universal (UK).The first single "Falling In" was released on radio January 2007, and a cross-Canada promotional tour will follow in June. Melanie will also be working with director Stephen Scott of Spy Entertainment on an upcoming video. Stephen Scott has directed videos for artists including The Trews, The Tea Party, Shaggy, Creed, Barenaked Ladies, Delerium, Ron Sexsmith, and Coldplay's Chris Martin. Look for "Magic" in stores across Canada (including HMVs) in February 2007.A Handful of "Magic" Album Reviews...“A great CD is not on Amazon but on CDBaby.com. Her name is Melanie Joy and her album is titled ‘Magic’. Some beautiful songs with a lovely, quirky voice, this album is worth checking out if you're a piano-pop fan.”- Amazon.com “There is no doubt in my mind that [Magic] is one of the best songs I've heard here at TAXI all year long. Everything about it -- the melody, the incredible voice, the engaging musical performance -- all works beautifully. There's something more, though. Some undefinable quality that sets it apart from everything else. I believe this has to do with Melanie's charisma as a performer. There's some sort of spark that she exudes, something substantial that most artists just don't have. It is magical!” - TAXI A&R“Take a listen to Melanie Joy's ‘Magic,’ the singer's first full-length album, and you might wonder what kind of old-soul is dwelling inside such a young, and vibrant singer. Eloquent, melodic, and yet sometimes wonderfully quirky, Melanie captures the essence of fading dreams and vibrant experiences in each of her songs, marrying them to her enthralling melodies.”- W. Andrew Powell (TheGate.ca) “Magic is a perfect first offering from Melanie Joy as a solo artist. Fans will turn it up for vibrant, energetic tunes like 'Salesman Sanctity' and will doubtlessly fall for Melanie's signature lofty lyrics and intruiging melodies in 'Three' and 'Chasing Time'. I love it! It's all over my ipod!”- Carey Ca Magic Music | List Price | $23.97 (You save $4.98) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs, Pop | | Label | Bullseye | | Orig Year | 2007 | | CD Universe Part number | 7354826 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Mar 27, 2007 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Melanie Joy; Peter Linseman | | Engineer | Peter Linseman | | Additional Info | Import |

Magic album
$7.75 A HARD DAY'S NIGHT presents a fictionalized day in the life of the Beatles as they give a performance on a live television show. Filmed just a month after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, this film--the Beatles' first--introduces us to the unique personalities of each member of the band. The film opens with the Fab Four boarding a train mobbed with adoring young fans (mostly women) as they attempt to travel ...
| | King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King CD (1969) Bonus Tracks
Magic CD music
$104.78 Initial pressings featured a limited edition, cardboard-stock gatefold sleeve and unpublished archive photos.
KC's debut album introduced to the world a group that threw various '60s genres into a blender and set the results afire with a blowtorch. One of the pioneers of the progressive rock movement that began in the late '60s and flourished in the early '70s, King Crimson was arguably the most consistently creative band in the genre. On IN THE COURT they blend wispy, Donovan-ish folk-rock with Wagnerian grandeur, mind-bending heavy rock, and even a free- jazz sensibility. Greg Lake's vocals are effectively theatrical but more restrained than in his ...

| | Daughtry Leave This Town CD (2009)
Magic album
$15.45 When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like specters over an abandoned Californian street. The five rockers serve as visual evidence that Daughtry is a band, not a person, and such reminders may be necessary because LEAVE THIS TOWN doesn't differ much in feel or form from DAUGHTRY. Overall, LEAVE THIS TOWN isn't quite as studio slick as DAUGHTRY, which was fueled by Chris Daughtry's desire ...
| | Sting If On A Winter's Night... CDs (2009) Digipak
Magic CD music
$12.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. And it's that thoughtfulness that does distinguish IF ON A WINTER NIGHT...; no other Christmas album exists in the head like this. It's a holiday album for people who have never wanted to hear a holiday album, let alone own one.

| | Raging Slab Pronounced Eat Shit CD (2002)
Magic music CDs
$14.69 Well, it took nearly a decade and a few false starts, but with 2002's hilariously Skynyrd-referencing Pronounced Eat Shit (complete with cover art tribute), it is safe to say that Raging Slab has finally returned to form. Having exorcised a decade's worth of record industry "downers" with the previous year's terribly pessimistic The Dealer, the Pennsylvania-based veterans truly seem revitalized here. A snappy version of Todd Rundgren's "Little Red Lights" opens the proceedings, winding down with dive-bombing guitar runs that lead into the massive groove and chorus of the "Boogalooser" single, where a leering Greg Strzempka drawls away with the self-effacing charm of old. The next number, "Ruby," is exactly the kind of gem its title suggests. A soulful shuffle sweetened by spot-on slide guitar work from the ever reliable Elyse Steinman, it is dedicated to Black Oak Arkansas backup singer Ruby Starr, and ranks among the album's most memorable highlights. Another dedication (this one to Joey Ramone and Brain Surgeons guitarist Billy Hilfiger), "Dry Your Eyes" boasts a circular guitar figure to die for, and Strzempka's inspiration runs deep throughout the disc's second half as well, from the powerful start-stop-start tricks and organ licks heard on "Black Bell" to the hiccupping blues grind that is "When the Cock Crows." And as she'd done on their last outing, Steinman tackles lead vocals herself on occasion, lending her frightful rasp to the comical (at least one hopes it's meant to be comical) "Hell Yawns Before Me," ...
