Purchase Leader Of The Pack CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Silky Soul Music: An All-Star Tribute To Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly CD (2009)
Leader Of The Pack
$11.65 A San Francisco-based smooth R&B act with roots in Philadelphia soul, Maze (usually billed as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly) never managed to break with a larger mainstream audience during their late-`70s to early `80s peak, but nevertheless garnered a devoted following in urban radio as one of the progenitors of the romantic, understated style known as "quiet storm." And the group's jazz-funk sophistication can certainly be felt in contemporary R&B and neo-soul styles of the `90s and `00s, with some of their ...

| | Michael Jackson Bad CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Leader Of The Pack
$7.59 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Jackson's domination of the world record market continued following Thriller, although by comparison it was an almighty flop with only 12 million sales. As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and the gorgeous "Man In The Mirror" were substantial hits, but quality material such as "Dirty Diana" and "Liberian Girl" bolster a strong album. Jackson also seemed to have found the romance he seeks in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Regardless of his press, history clearly shows that he has made a lot of people very, very happy.
Additional Tracks
Recorded at Westlake Audio Studios, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Epic (40600).

| | Notorious B I G Ready To Die CD (1994) With DVD; Reissue; Remastered
Leader Of The Pack
$12.65 Blowin' up the charts using his knowledge of the streets and hard bangin' snares provided by producer Easy Mo Bee, the Bedford-Stuyvesant native Notorious B.I.G. is far from "Ready To Die." Not since the likes of Slick Rick has there been an artist so successful in the storytelling genre of rap music, creating a mental picture of life in the heads of his listeners. The up-tempo "Gimme The Loot" illustrates the hustlin' ways of a trigger-happy robbery expert stressed from the "Everyday Struggle" of life. The recurrence of the Isley Brothers tune "Between The Sheets" adds to the charm of "Big Poppa," where Biggie portrays his "player" image. No need to skip any songs, READY TO DIE is packed with hits all the way through.
Once he stepped out onto the scene as the rapper on the remix of Mary J. Blige's hit single "Real Love," many hip-hop fanatics anxiously awaited the debut of The Notorious B.I.G. a.k.a. Biggie Smalls. Their prayers were answered with READY TO DIE, fifteen tracks ...

| | Ken Berman In Mind CD (2006)
Leader Of The Pack
$17.09 Expat Jazz Sensation Returns from Paris with New Album! Reviewing Ken Berman's CD In Mind for The L.A. Jazz Scene, jazz critic Scott Yanow writes: "When listening to Ken Berman's trio CD In Mind, it is easy to think of Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, for Berman's chord voicings and his close interplay with his sidemen recall the work of his two predecessors. The difference is that Berman wrote all ten selections, he never copies Evans or Jarrett, and at times he sounds more advanced than either of them. The music overall is both swinging and thoughtful, spontaneous and purposeful." In Mind, Ken Berman’s latest release (2006), features ten inspired original tracks showcasing his genius as a composer and pianist, leading a combo including the great John Lockwood on bass and legendary drummers Yoron Israel and Bob Gullotti. The French newspaper Le Monde praised Ken Berman, a sensation in Paris, as "precise and inventive," and the "talk of the town in the clubs of the capital of jazz." In Mind was rated one of the top 15 jazz releases of 2006 on the Jazz with Bob Parlocha website, and it has been added to the playlists on KCSM in San Francisco, WFMT in Chicago, WGBH in Boston, WEMU in Michigan as well as on college radio nationwide. Ken Berman was the subject of recent features on KCSM in San Francisco, and on KZSU at Stanford University. Pianist and composer Ken Berman has appeared on the famed stages of Carnegie Hall in New York, Detroit’s Fox Theater, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and The Sunside in Paris; he’s equally at home in the bohemian grooves of the Knitting Factory ...
