Teenage Depression album
$18.59 There have been dozens and dozens of Motörhead compilations released over the decades, but the first one remains definitive, even if it's not perfect. Released in 1984 as a gap-filler -- for Motörhead were regrouping in the wake of the bandmember shuffling that followed the odd Another Perfect Day album -- No Remorse compiled two-dozen songs across two discs (latter-day editions adding a good serving of bonus tracks, too). Many of the band's best songs to date are here, like "Ace of Spades," "Stay Clean," "Overkill," "Bomber," and "Iron Fist." There are also four new recordings that were cut exclusively for No Remorse: "Killed by Death," "Snaggletooth," "Steal Your Face," and "Locomotive." These four songs were cut by the newly instated four-piece lineup that would go on to record Orgasmatron (1986): guitarists Michael Burston and Phil Campbell, drummer Peter Gill, and of course, bassist/vocalist Lemmy. These new recordings make No Remorse more than a standard greatest-hits package, as do ...
| | Roger Daltrey Daltrey CD (1973) (Import) Bonus Tracks; England; Remastered; United Kingdom
Teenage Depression CD music
$13.15 Although Roger Daltrey was by no means the first member of the Who to take the solo plunge (both John Entwistle and Pete Townshend beat him to the punch), he was the first to make any kind of commercial impact. While "Giving It All Away" peeled off his self-titled debut album to hit the U.K. Top Five, the album itself went Top 50 in America and, almost as an afterthought, introduced the writing talents of the young and then-unknown Leo Sayer to the public at large. Eight months ahead of his own breakthrough hit, "The Show Must Go On," Sayer and writing partner Dave Courtney composed eight of Daltrey's ten tracks; Courtney co-produced the album with Adam Faith, then wrote the remaining pair with Faith himself. Of Sayer's contributions, both "Giving It All Away" and the opening "One Man Band" would subsequently reappear on his own Just a Boy album, itself titled for the chorus line of "Giving It All Away." Daltrey's majestically plaintive rendition remains the definitive version, however, all the more so when linked with ...
| | Pretenders II CDs (1981) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Teenage Depression music CDs
$17.75 The band look magnificent on the cover as they pose with make-up or heavily retouched faces. They look confident, knowing that their follow-up is almost as good as the debut. Chrissie and Ray Davies were stepping out at this time, hence the opening track, "The Adultress," as Hynde whispers her confession over a furious wall of sound, to be immediately followed by her reminder that "Bad Boys Get Spanked." If only Chrissie, if only. The album drives and dives, pausing for "I Go To Sleep," another old Ray Davies song. There is not a bad track in sight.
The Pretenders' second album received a much-deserved upgrade in the fall of 2006, as Rhino reissued it as a double-disc set containing a remastered version of the original album on the first disc and a wealth of rarities on the second. If this bonus disc pales in comparison to the bonus disc on the reissue of The Pretenders, it's because it packs few revelations or unexpected rarities among its 18 tracks. Which isn't to say that there's a lot of familiar recordings here: all but two of the tracks are previously unreleased, but all but three are live tracks. Since the original lineup ...

| | Celine Dion L'Olympia CD (1998) (Import) Canada

| | Alarm Under Attack CD (2006)
Teenage Depression CD music
$13.69 When Under Attack appeared in 2006, it marked the Alarm's first new U.S. release in 15 years. Much had changed in the personal life of leader Mike Peters shortly before it became available, as he had recently discovered he'd contracted leukemia, almost ten years after he'd contracted lymphoma. But Under Attack sounds like what you'd expect almost any given Alarm record to sound like -- hard-hitting, ...
