| | Glen Campbell Wichita Lineman CD (1968) Remastered
Soft Seventies Gold Vol. 1
$5.89 Includes liner notes by Dan Davis. Digitally remastered by Bob Norberg & Rob Christie (Capitol Mastering). This is part of Capitol's Cornerstones series. Personnel: Glen Campbell (vocals, guitar). Audio Remasterer: Glenn Meadows. Liner Note Author: Dann Davis. Recording information: 12/04/1967-06/12/1968. This disc, a certified double-platinum album, captures Campbell's appeal at his most mainstream, mixing mid-tempo country-pop, spiced by a smooth if unambitious cover of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" and the prettiest version of Tim Hardin's "Reason to Believe" ever done. The latter two make the album hipper than Campbell himself ...

| | Peter Delano For Dewey CD (2008)
Soft Seventies Gold Vol. 1
$13.45 Personnel: Peter Delano (piano); Dewey Redman (tenor saxophone); Doug Weiss (bass instrument); Anders Hentze (drums). Audio Mixer: Jim Anderson . Liner Note Author: Ira Gitler. Recording information: Chung King, New York, NY. Photographer: Bruce Weber. Since his early days with the pop-rap group Digable Planets, pianist Peter Delano's excursion into modern jazz has been full of rainbows and potholes. A handful of recordings for the Verve label were issued, with ensuing time spent studying at Columbia University. In 2004, a severe and near fatal spinal injury left Delano unable to play piano. Well before the affliction, this CD was recorded in 1996, but never released. Delano's maturity as a modern contemporary pianist is clearly evident, as he weaves wondrous golden post-bop messages of sonic substance. His fluidity and acumen are formidable, his ideas overflowing but not overbearing. On his three featured tracks, tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman's post-John Coltrane sound brings his vintage and progressive notions to bear, while losing none of the original voice he made so precious. Three standards with just the trio are all started slowly then ramped up, including a careful approach integrated into a bass walking take of "For All We Know," and an expected regretful piano ...
