Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish Shirley Temple stars in this fairy tale about imaginary lands and the true values of kindness and happiness. The journey begins when Mytyl (Temple) captures a unique bird in the royal forest, then refuses to pass it on to her bedridden best friend. That night, Mytyl is visited in a dream by a fairy who sends her and her brother, Tytyl (John Russell), on a quest for the bluebird of happiness. Accompanied by their pet dog and cat, Mytyl and Tytyl set out on an adventure into the past, the future, and the Land of Luxury--only to find the bluebird in a most unexpected place. Much like THE WIZARD OF OZ, which was released the previous year, THE BLUE BIRD begins with a black-and-white prologue, then switches to lavish Technicolor when the children enter fantastic lands, a transformation that highlights the film's dazzlingly magical soul. Filmed in lavish Technicolor and released one year after The Wizard of Oz. Like "Wizard", this film began with a black-and-white prologue before shifting to color.

Blue Bird Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) lovely movie wonderful movie to be watched by all members of the family Submitted by hrossoukas (east doncaster, melb, aust) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Rivals Wizard of OZ Though this film was openly made by Fox to capitalize on the Wizard of OZ’s success, the story was written some thirty years earlier and can hold it's own in quality. Temple, Collins and Sondergaard characterization of spoiled brat, loyal dog and wickedly conniving cat was sheer genius. Their search for the Blue Bird of Happiness is journey every child would love to make. Submitted by Linda (Friendswood,TX,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
CHILD'S HEART This movie it's a must have for children and for those with a child's heart .Of course i remember myself when i was 7 years old ,laughing out loud when i first watched it. Butnow with 28 i could still laugh but without the lost innocence.Even though not laughing so hard this movie its to remember the good old days . $10.29 Although the rough-and-ready Allan Dwan was at first underwhelmed about the idea of working with the 1930s child star, his collaboration with Temple turned out to be a pleasure for both. She stars as the title character in this adaptation of the children's classic. Set in the Swiss Alps during ...

$10.55 Writer/director Michael Haneke delivers a masterpiece of unsettlement with CACHÉ. Life seems perfect for Georges (Daniel Auteuil) and Anne (Juliette Binoche), a bourgeois Parisian couple who live in a comfortable home with their adolescent son, Pierrot (Lester Makedonsky). But when an anonymous videotape turns up on their doorstep, showing their house under surveillance from across the street, their calm life begins to spiral out of control. Subsequent videotapes arrive, accompanied by mysterious drawings, and gradually Georges becomes convinced that he's being tormented by a figure from his past. But when he confronts him, the man assures Georges he is innocent. A growing sense of guilt begins to rise in Georges as he recalls his less-than-angelic childhood, yet for some reason he's unable to be completely honest with Anne. Soon, their happy home is an emotional battleground, leading to a climax that is breathtaking in its ferocity and ambiguousness.

$19.99 A nostalgic look at a young boy's coming-of-age in postwar Italy and his fascination with a small local cinema, CINEMA PARADISO from director Giuseppe Tornatore is a famed and beloved classic.
"Alfredo is dying." Those words jolt the successful filmmaker Salvatore (played as a child by Salvatore Cascio, as a teen by Marco Leonardi, and as an adult by Jacques Perrin), into contemplating his childhood and the hours he spent in the projection booth of his adored local movie theater, Cinema Paradiso. Alfredo (Philippe Noiret), owner of the moviehouse, befriended and encouraged young Salvatore, known as "Toto" as he grew up in his small Sicilian home town, ravaged by the horrors of the war. The cinema offered escape and fantasy to the townspeople, including Toto's mother, a grieving war widow. In one breathtaking scene a popular comedy is projected onto the walls of the town square and the entire town glows in the dreamy light of projected celluloid, washing away the harsh realities of poverty and grief. As Toto grows to manhood, his friendship with his mentor deepens. With the love and guidance of the aging man, Toto navigates the trials of first love and builds on his ever-growing passion for the cinema. Ultimately, it is Alfredo who convinces Toto to leave his village to pursue his dreams of becoming a director. But as Salvatore thinks back on his youthful romances and his innocent love of movies, he comes to realize that perhaps his success has come at a very high price. A beautifully filmed tribute to the ...
