Here's the unforgettable story of a Chinese gorilla who knew karate! Raised as a lifelong housepet of Chinese karate master Alfunku, this gorilla uses martial arts to attack and defeat his master during a lesson. Embarrassed, the master gives him to the United States as a friendly gesture, where the simian is displayed in Wichita, Kansas. As a publicity stunt, the gorilla, now named King Kung Fu, is set free, and police captain J.W. Duke and his first officer Pilgrim begin an extensive chase to recover him and his love interest, Rae Fay, culminating atop the tallest building in Wichita, the Holiday Inn. A gorilla sent to America by way of Kansas is set free by reporters in search of a scoop. The joke's on them when they discover the gorilla knows kung fu.

$21.49 Acclaimed B-movie director Edgar G. Ulmer filmed this selection of memorable musical performances, loosely connected by the story of Nora, an Irish scrubwoman (Marsha Hunt) whose passion for classical music causes her to clash with her jazz-loving pianist son (William Prince). The rift caused by their musical differences is eventually healed amid the music of the hall, where Nora works. Arthur Rubinstein, Bruno Walter, and Leopold Stowkowski conduct such accomplished classical performers as vocalists Lily Pons, Ezio Pinza, and Rise Stevens; cellist Gregor Piatgorsky, and violin virtuoso Jascha Heifetz. Vaughn Monroe's orchestra and jazz trumpeter Harry James also show up, and Nora realizes maybe jazz is okay after all.
This was clearly a labor of love for Ulmer, and his fluid direction captures the grandeur and excitement of the concert experience. The main story may be a bit ...

$93.15 This comprehensive set collects some of French New Wave director Luc Moullet's greatest films, including: THE SMUGGLERS, an imaginative and low-budget slapstick about a pair of criminals; A GIRL IS A GUN, a wild and very French take on the Western starring Truffaut muse Jean-Pierre Léaud as a Billy the Kid-like outlaw; BRIGITTE AND BRIGITTE, in which two identically-named women move to Paris to study film (allowing for cameos by legendary directors Sam Fuller, Claude Chabrol, and Eric Rohmer); UP AND DOWN, an absurdist look at a group of cyclists racing through the French Alps; ANATOMY OF A RELATIONSHIP, a playful examination of Moullet's marriage and nonfunctional sex life; and GENESIS OF A MEAL which follows the journey--from creation to consumption--of four essential parts of this unique director's diet: a banana, an omelet, a can of tuna, and a reel of 35mm film.
All of Moullets major films are included in this 4 DVD set, from the psychedelic ...
