Unfortunately, they are also nerds to the extreme: horn-rimmed glasses, ill-fitting, mismatched clothes, intelligence galore, etc. Naturally, the curvaceous coeds, juvenile jocks, and infantile frat brothers make their lives, and the lives of their fellow outcasts, a misery. But when the nerds decide to create their own fraternity, sexual and comedic hijinks ensue as the nerds seek vengeance against those who've done them wrong.
When boorish frat guys commandeer their humble dorm at Adams College, bespectacled Lewis, shy Gilbert, and the rest of the "nerds" retaliate by forming their own fraternity--and setting their sights on the coveted Greek Council. But it won't be easy, so they'll have to summon their smarts to beat the jocks at their own game. Much better than most films in its teen-sex genre, REVENGE OF THE NERDS features a stellar cast, including Robert Carradine, Anthony Edwards (ER), Timorthy Busfield (THE WEST WING), Curtis Armstrong (MOONLIGHTING), Ted McGinley (MARRIED WITH CHILDREN), and John Goodman (ROSEANNE). The University of Arizona agreed, then revoked permission for the filmmakers to shoot at the school, claiming the script was too bawdy. Even though they're from the Midwest, traditionally not one of the strongholds of gangsta rap, Do or Die isn't one of the most distinctive gangsta outfits. They fall prey to the same pimp-money-blunts-'n'-hoes formula that plagues gangsta rap, which might make the disc a little frustrating even to aficionados of the style. However, this time they have managed to come up with a triad of fine singles with "Still Po Pimpin'," "Who Am I," and "Nobody's Home." They're not quite enough to make the filler excusable, but they might be enough to make Headz or Tailz worth purchasing by hardcore gangsta fanatics. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Joe Dante's hilariously funny, wickedly scary film is about a loveable, furry little Christmas gift that multiplies into many little Christmas gifts, with savage consequences. Rand Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) is an inventor who hasn't successfully invented anything. But this Christmas he's bringing his family something special--a small, cuddly creature known as a mogwai. The little fella comes with three crucial instructions. He's not to be fed after midnight, he's not to get any direct light and he should never be given so much as a drop of water. If Rand and his son Billy (Zach Galligan) can adhere to these rules they can avoid the otherwise tragic consequences. Unfortunately, the rules are harder to stick to than it seems, and suddenly Billy finds himself with far too many "pets," all with big appetites. It's up to Billy and his girlfriend (Phoebe Cates) to stop the mischievous gremlins before they ruin Christmas for the residents of rural Kingston Falls.
