| | Jim Gibson Still Still Still: More Carols For Christmas CD Jim Gibson Discography of CDs
Jim Gibson has, since the 1970s, been one of Atlanta's busiest commercial pianists, playing literally thousands of corporate and social events. From this long experience, he developed a deep appreciation for simplicity, and for melodies--and that's what is most prominent in his Hickory Cove Music CDs. He chooses well-known songs that have been popular for many years, and plays them in a relaxing and melodic way. All Jim's recordings are improvised--that is, he goes into the studio with only a list of tunes, and works with each one until a viable idea is developed. Since he has played jazz for years, this improvisational approach works, although these CDs are not really classified as "jazz."Jim's background is varied: he has a Master's degree in English, taught high-school English for several years, wrote several books on the Music Industry, was temporary chair of Georgia State University's Music Industry program, and has now recorded 15 solo piano CDs for Hickory Cove Music. He is married, and has two grown children. | | Tony MacAlpine Edge Of Insanity CD (1986)
Still Still Still: More Carols For Christmas
$14.59 After Yngwie Malmsteen set the guitar world on fire with his 1984 debut, Rising Force, it was amazing how quickly the clones came out of the woodwork. Within a couple years there were dozens of them, flooding the market with their recorded instrumental extravaganzas. Tony MacAlpine was one of the Yngwie followers, to a certain degree. His debut album, Edge of Insanity, with its all-star rhythm section of Steve Smith and Billy Sheehan (drums and bass, respectively), follows the rough blueprint of Yngwie's model. Soloing over dramatic minor key vamps, MacAlpine catalogs his impressive licks at top speed. But while his chops on the guitar are quite astounding, what is more impressive is that he is equally adept at playing the keyboard. So there's plenty of exciting guitar/keyboard interplay here -- including dueling solo sections and unison or harmonized runs -- that is quite dazzling. Album highlights include the laid-back album closer, "No Place in Time," and MacAlpine's impressive unaccompanied piano performance of Chopin's Prelude 16, Opus 28. The low point is "Quarter to Midnight," a "live solo" that sounds very suspiciously ...

| | Lady Peachena Divine Restoration CD (2008)
Still Still Still: More Carols For Christmas
$11.39 DIVINE RESTORATION is by far Lady Peachena's best album yet.Her vocals are emotionally raw, and refreshingly real. It's very R & B/Urban Contemporary Gospel, and this gifted, Grammy-nominated songwriter wrote all of the songs on this phenomenal project. Lady Peachena wails, moans, squalls, and lulls you into singing along with her catchy, upbeat lyrics, and hot, jamming music that's sometimes has a spicy Caribbean beat. Undeniably it's pure Reggae-Gospel! Such cuts are the title song, "DIVINE RESTORATION," "NO PROBLEM," "IT'S AMAZING," and "SAVE ME".DIVINE RESTORATION is Lady Peachena's musical testimony ofhow the power of God has transformed her life. Although she's faced many obstacles over the years she's ...
