Musical talent is something that is no stranger to Terri “Diviniti†Smith’s family. Her father was a saxophone player and both of her parents sang and were very active in their church choirs. Like her five siblings, Diviniti began plating a musical instrument at a young age. Her mother began teaching her the violin via the Suzuki method when she was only six years old. She excelled-and eventually played with the Detroit Civic Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, also based in the metro-Detroit area.As she grew up, she also developed a love for writing-especially poetry. She wrote constantly and received recognition from her high school poetry club and was a finalist in a poetry contest sponsored by a local college.
