Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Cleveland Indians owner Rachel Phelps puts together the worst team she can possibly find, in the hopes that audiences will stay away and she can break her lease and move the team to Miami. Of course, the team of losers catches on to the scam and, with new-found motivation, conspire to foil her plans. When the widow of the owner of the Cleveland Indians realizes that she is stuck with a small stadium in a cold climate, she decides that a move to a Southern, warmer climate is called for. Unfortunately the only way she can unload her stadium is due to low attendance, so she needs to plan for a losing and lackluster season. The team of misfits and losers that she has hired, though, decide that if they really pull through, they may not wind up in last place and not be the losers that the owner thinks that they are. This offbeat baseball comedy, starring Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen and Rene Russo, was a surprise 1989 hit. Estimated budget $10-12 million.

Highly entertaining The bereaving wife of the dead owner of the "Indians" baseball team puts together a team of misfits and no-hopers in an attempt to give her just cause to move the franchise to a sunnier climate. When the coach and team find out about her plan they rally around in an attempt to stave off the ultimate humiliation, finishing last in their league. Not much baseball but a few laughs and lots of feel good factor.
Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger and Corbin Bernstein star as the core of this no hope team. Submitted by spmcdonnell (United Kingdom) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Feel good movie for all sports fans... I hadn't seen Major League for a number of years and couldn't get a UK version.
Major League represents a sporting pick me up, that doesn't take itself too seriously.
When you look at the cast, in today's light, there are some serious actors here who have gone on to great careers.
If you want to feel good, and see an underdog come good, this is the film for you... Submitted by jolly.olly (Winchester, Hampshire, United Kingdom) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Major League film
$11.35 Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham hits the stage with hilarious new pals Achmed the Dead Terrorist and Melvin the Super hero, as well as old favorites Peanut, Walter, and Jose Jalapeno, in this sidesplitting performance at Washington D.C.'s Warner Theater.
More than just a stand-up comic, Jeff Dunham is a one-man comedy troupe--a ring-leader in a circus of snark. The veteran ventriloquist may be the only one with vocal chords, but he’s often the least vocal, playing straight man to a steam trunk of personalities: Achmed the Dead Terrorist, a goofball skeleton still fighting the infidels; Peanut, an odd purple creature with a fast mouth; Jose Jalapeño, a smooth-talking pepper on a stick; Bubba J, NASCAR’s biggest fan; and Walter, a dirty old man who speaks his mind. Together with his hilarious and irreverent puppets, Dunham riffs on everything from politics to family life, and slays the audience with his quick-witted banter. SPARK OF INSANITY features one of Dunham’s funniest performances, recorded live at Washington D.C.’s Warner Theater.
Jeff Dunham has become one of the most successful touring comics ever and has amassed legions of loyal fans! At the American Comedy Awards, Dunham was voted Male Stand-Up Comic of the Year, an honor shared with the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Foxworthy and Robin Williams. Thousands of sold-out theater and comedy club performances, his own top-rated special on Comedy Central and countless TV guest spots - including numerous Tonight Show appearances (with both Leno and Carson) - have won him accolades and success. The reason why is very simple: he and his buddies are funny as hell. Oh, and by the way... Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist.

Major League review
$13.39 In a somewhat perverse bit of casting, Mickey Rooney stars opposite the inimitable Peter Lorre in this gem of a noir. Rooney plays a mechanic named Dan, a naive young man who fancies himself something of a ladies man. He begins his descent into the world of crime when he falls for a blonde named Vera (Jeanne Cagney), whom he promises an expensive date. Unfortunately, Dan is a bit short on cash, so he takes $20 from his shop's register and spends it all, thinking he'll be able to replace it before anyone notices. When he can't, Dan begins a downward spiral that starts with petty crime but quickly turns into something much worse.

| | Motel DVD (2006) Widescreen
Major League DVD
$18.59 This quiet gem marks the directorial debut of Michael Kang, and was produced by Miguel Arteta (THE GOOD GIRL, CHUCK AND BUCK). Thirteen-year-old Ernest Chin (Jeffrey Chyau) is the first-generation son in a family of Chinese immigrants; he lives in a sleazy motel run by his hardworking, dour mother (Jade Wu) who discourages his interests in writing and girls. She believes that Ernest needs to appreciate what he has at home, and give up his dreams that threaten nothing but heartache--the viewer infers that this is what became of her own dreams. When a brash, hard-drinking, womanizing young Korean man named Sam (Sung Kang) moves into the motel, Ernest forms an unlikely bond with him, as each finds in the other something he desperately needs. Sam seeks out the fatherless boy, sensing a need for guidance and companionship that mirrors his own.
The simple, awkward dialogue of the film is managed winningly by novice actor Chyau, who was recruited from the Bronx High School of Science to play the part of Ernest. The performances by supporting actor Kang, as well as Samantha Futerman, who plays Ernest's precocious love interest, are equally powerful. With beautiful photography and a slow, seductive pace, the film delivers a message about finding beauty in unlikely places, as well as the courage to follow one's dreams.
Puberty sucks, and nobody knows it better than 13-year-old Ernest Chin (Jeffrey Chyau). As he watches guests come and go, Ernest finds himself forever stuck at his family's hourly-rate motel, where he divides his time between taking orders from his overbearing mom, cleaning up after whatever miscreants the motel may attract, and longing for the girl of his dreams, 15-year-old Christine (Samantha Futerman). When charismatic Sam Kim checks into the motel, fatherless Ernest is taken under his wing and hustled toward manhood, for better or worse. This comedy is by Michael Kang.
