This film shows the horrors of war and the invention of heroism for propaganda purposes. The scenes between the battle and the men made uncomfortable by the label of hero as they are used to sell war bonds is effective and makes the brutality of the war more bearable.

Flags of Our Fathers is Eastwood film-making at it's best. The movie's action is extremely intense and graphic and might be too much for some of it's viewers.

||A stunning and brutal film.|
After seeing "Flags Of Our Fathers", I left the theatre somewhat shaken. The battle scenes were terribly brutal and gruesome but Eastwood wanted the story told in a way that did not water down the actual battle.

Flags of Our Fathers DVD for sale Awesome movie, I grew up in Antigo WI, home of John Bradley. He was wonderfully portrayed in this movie. While in High School, I played the organ at his Funeral Home many times.

While the action scenes are well done, this film jumps to and from the battle action to 'Stateside' scenes so frequently that all intensity is lost... ... ... Eastwood and Spielburg obviously tried to get too 'artsy' rather than to retell the heroic tale of the Marine Corps unbelievable efforts at Iwo Jima....
