| | Toasters Enemy Of The System CD (2002)
Flight Of The Bass Delegate album
$11.15 You've got to hand it to the Toasters. When the third ska revival hit in the mid-'90s, they had already been on the scene for over a decade, and bandleader Rob Hingley's Moon Ska NYC label was home to some of America's (and Canada's and England's) best ska bands. They took advantage of ska's new wave of popularity by releasing a truckload of albums by young bands, and while some have criticized Moon for a certain lack of discrimination during that period, there was no question that the Toasters' own releases were of the highest quality. With the subsequent collapse of the ska revival and the partial collapse of the record industry, Moon went out of business, and the Toasters went back to doing what they do best: playing top-notch 2-tone-derived modern ska for live audiences. Their first studio album in five years shows blessedly little in the way of artistic maturation; it's chock-full of the same old straight-up, R&B-influenced ska that the band has been playing since the early '80s. Blues influences are both explicit (as in "Sweet Home Town Jamaica," a blatant rewrite of "Sweet Home Alabama") and implied (as in the song title "Sitting on Top of the World," which has nothing to do with ...

Flight Of The Bass Delegate album
$14.19 Bourbon on the bar, hoping the cutie across the room wants to take a spin round the honky-tonk.Saturday night, pay packet in the pocket, it`s time to get tight and stay out of the fight. It`s time to get your tail shaking. Ronnie Hayward is on the stage and the room is full of folks that feel like family. Brother Bubba and that sexy sister-in-law just walked through the smoke filled room. Beers are real cold and the band is tearin` it up. Two stepping tonight and a doozy of a hangover tomorrow. There are no ex-lovers here, just the promise of a good time right here and now.Jump on the outbound train of Ronnie Hayward`s "Tail Shaking" and you will hear the clickty clack of the railroad track taking you on a "One way ticket" to hillbilly heaven. Take the road of "Tail Shaking" and find out how good this western rockin hillbilly outfit can make you feel. Feel the Texas winds blowing with hometown heroes such as Hank, Merle Travis, High Noon, Carl Perkins. They are old favorites and now Ronnie Hayward will be your new hillbilly hoppin favorite. If you are dancing here`s tunes for you.If you are crying, weeping and moaning about this and that, Ronnie Hayward is going to take you home and sober that sorry soul up.This is a back porch on a rainy day with the best pickers in town over for songs and lies. This CD is road tunes, dancing under the stars and drinking the blues songs."Whiskey Flavored Kisses" is a tasty tune to wrap your lovin lips around. A jiving shuffler with a barrom backbeat. Jack Daniels approved. "Lonesome Feeling" rumbles with great guitar, rolling right into Burnett Brothers, all the while holding onto a great coral sound. "Pink Wedding Gown" is a `50`s story song that is an uptempo treat. ...
