| | Anthrax Caught In the Mosh: BBC Live In Concert CDs (2007) (Import) Remastered; United Kingdom
Life Lessons
$17.95 If it was a reaction to California's eternal sunshine and plastic sheen that inspired Metallica and Megadeth to help create the dark, angst-filled extreme metal that became thrash, perhaps it was New York City's inherent toughness that caused Anthrax to inject a quirky worldview and sarcastic sense of humor into its own pioneering speed metal. Like NYC proto-punks the Dictators before them, Anthrax's uncompromising individuality may have cost them the kind of mainstream success later ...

| | Judas Priest Priest... Live! CDs (1978) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Life Lessons
$15.95 Principally recorded at Chipping Norton Studios, Cotswold, England in 1978. Includes liner notes by Judas Priest.
Culled from performances on their mammoth 1986 TURBO tour, Judas Priest's second live album, PRIEST...LIVE! was issued one year later. Including some post-BRITISH STEEL songs, PRIEST...LIVE! doesn't quite measure up to their outstanding earlier live album, 1979's UNLEASHED IN THE EAST, but it has its moments.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of selections from the TURBO album are featured, such as "Out in the Cold," "Turbo Lover," and "Parental Guidance," but "Hot Rockin'," "Don't Go," and several '80s Priest classics are noticeably absent. Still, you can't go wrong with inspired versions of such favorites as "Love Bites," "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll," "Electric Eye," "Living After Midnight," and "You've Got Another Thing Coming."
After the stunning success of 1977's SIN AFTER SIN, Judas Priest offered another exceptional album with its follow-up one year later, STAINED CLASS. Though disco and punk were grabbing all the headlines in the late '70s, Priest turned a deaf ear to these new musical developments, and stuck to its heavy metal guns. Rarely has metal sounded so inspired and precise as this album's ...

| | Ultralord We Hate You And Hope You Die CD (2006)
Life Lessons
$12.95 As if you couldn't tell from their debut album's title, We Hate You and Hope You Die, the word "subtlety" does not figure in the vocabulary -- verbal or musical -- of Ohio's Ultralord. Predominantly a sludge metal band, distinguished by the occasional thrashing and, alternately, doom tendencies, Ultralord's debut follows a similarly misanthropic path as their debut EP, 2005's Ac I; its eight vitriol-filled slabs are ...

| | Mychael John Thomas Home CD (2007)
Life Lessons
$13.89 Mychael began playing guitar at age eleven, and by age fourteen he was playing various club circuits all around the Southeast. At seventeen, he recorded and released his first album with his band, Felt, which consisted of friends from the North Alabama area. The album achieved regional success on the East coast, but the band dissolved after one tour.In 1978, Mychael signed with Tree Publishing (now Sony/ATV) as a staff writer, where he met producer Cliff Williamson. Together they produced one album for RCA Free Flight Records, titled Neon Dreams, which was released in 1979. This album also achieved moderate success and was the largest monetary deal in Nashville history at that time. The title song, "Neon Dreams," was a top ten hit in San Francisco for eight weeks, and "The Life Sonata," the first ever composition for Rock Guitar Orchestra, received a mention in Guitar Player magazine and still gets airplay in Japan and Europe. In 1980, Mychael moved back into the session scene. For the next seven years, he worked with various artists from New York to Nashville. He also worked at Opryland during that time writing, producing, and playing in the live rock music shows. He was a staff writer for Multimedia Entertainment (producers of Phil Donahue) and wrote the music for "The Great American Music Video," a children's special that aired on NBC.In 1987, Mychael committed his life to Jesus. He began a free tape and CD ministry specializing in Christian rock music. He worked in youth ministry for ten years, including two one-year stints as a youth and music minister. From 1988 to 2006 Mychael also worked as a private music teacher, including five years as a college instructor, teaching guitar and recording techniques. In 1997, he formed his own record label, THOMASTONE RECORDS, INC., and has since released several CDs of his own work.In 2006, Mychael added author to his list of credits. He authored a science fiction novel titled Freedom Fire, which includes complimentary music performed by his GUITARORCHESTRAâ„¢. ...
