| | Akon Trouble CD Akon Discography of CDs
Young R&B singer Akon's life has been filled with struggle and fortune, and both scenarios are channeled into his debut record, fittingly entitled TROUBLE. Akon was born in Senegal, son of a well-known African jazz percussionist, but moved to New Jersey when just seven years old. Once in the States, Akon was in and out of jail, until he decided to forego that existence and embrace music. Akon's style derives from many influences, including hip-hop and his African heritage, but TROUBLE could be described as the grittier side of neo-soul, with a sound similar to Anthony Hamilton.
TROUBLE opens with "Locked Up," a smooth, rap-infused dirge perfectly suited for Akon's winsome, high-pitched vocals, which retain just a pinch of an African accent. He continues with the somber theme of redemption on the melodic "Trouble Nobody." Akon reveals a markedly different side of himself on the first single, the dance-floor tribute to beautiful women, "Bananza (Belly Dancer)." However, most of TROUBLE wanders in the sadness of living amongst urban decay, focusing on the trouble Akon has seen, and he's seen a lot.
Includes 1 bonus track.

| | Maxwell Now CD (2001)
Trouble album
$8.89 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, his use of various stylistic nuances once again stamps him as an original item. Twangy country-flavored licks and subtle DJ scratches pop up throughout the lament "Was My Girl," and scratchy rock guitar riffs are sparingly used over the heavy groove of "Temporary Nite." At the centerpiece is a studio version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work," a staple of Maxwell's concerts previously showcased on the live 1997 EP UNPLUGGED. Delivered with a crystalline falsetto, delicate strings and subtle pedal steel, it's a daring move worthy of Prince-ly accolades.
Elsewhere, Maxwell easily moves between sly funk (a percolating "Get To ...
| | Best Of The Gap Band CD (1995)
Trouble CD music
$11.99 A collection from the Mercury funk lineup that covers the hits from the first five Gap Band albums. Every major hit that they had is included here. What one might notice is that all of the major hits ("You Dropped a Bomb on Me," "Burn Rubber on Me," "Early in the Morning," and "I Don't Believe You Want to Get up and Dance") all sound surprisingly similar. This may or may not be a large surprise to everyone, but the bright note about their similarity is that the basic riffs and rhythms that they all use are extremely catchy. The energy that the Gap Band exudes in the midst of producing a song is stunning, and this compilation displays that to the fullest extent. For a basic introduction to the forms of funk that the Gap Band followed, this album would certainly suit any given listener. For those who only need one Gap Band album in their collection, this one also fits the bill perfectly. For die-hard fans who already have all of the band's albums, this one would probably only really serve as a summary. ~ Adam Greenberg

| | Bert Williams His Final Releases 1919-1922 CD (2002)
Trouble album
$14.69 Archeophone presents a third volume of the complete recordings of Afro-American vaudeville legend Bert Williams, immaculately remastered and arranged in chronological order. The time line represented here extends from February 13, 1919, to February 24, 1922, eight days before his death in Detroit, which occurred one week short of his 47th birthday. Born in the West Indies and raised near Los Angeles, CA, Egbert Williams developed a two-man vaudeville act with Kansas-born comic George Walker beginning in 1893. Starting up in San Francisco and making their way east through Chicago, the duo of Williams and Walker soon enjoyed popular success in New York and London, and were among the first Afro-Americans to make phonograph recordings. After Walker's premature death from syphilis in 1911, Williams established himself as a ...

| | Lebanese Compilation Banadoura CD (2006)
Trouble songs
$16.39 In a world where songs are produced like in the fast food industry (Lots of fat, with no fatty lyrics, music, or arrangements) comes a compilation in Lebanon from outside the traditional menu.Munir Khauli, Tanin el Tarab, is considered the godfather of the Lebanese alternative music scene. A great guitarist and a great songwriter, his music influenced a lot of Lebanese artists and many tried to pickpocket his unique style. In his song “motirbin” Munir describes exactly the current Lebanese music scene. “The nation is now filled with stars, And in the sky there are only clouds”. All Munir’s songs in this compilation were recorded in the nineties, yet two of them were been written in 1986 and 1989.The Quiminboos is a Lebanese band that was extremely famous in the late eighties especially in night clubs and universities. The band members (with a top secret identities) write original songs not similar to any other Lebanese or international artist. The lyrics are unbelievably Lebanese (even when they sing in English) and unbelievably unbelievable. In their song “Antarah” the Quiminboos do state “nfizir ghanni la Fairuz, 7aji ba2a maskhara”.All the songs selected from the quiminboos' vintage were written and recorded in the late eighties. Zena Daccache is a famous Lebanese actress. Although she is not a singer, her album’s performance and her voice are in the top list of the most authentic performances I ever heard (unlike many others who claim to be talented singer). All her songs were written and arranged by Nadim Bou Khalil. Nadim is a Lebanese poet, composer and a songwriter. His songs are original, clever, and fun to listen to. With his unique arrangement style, his music is easy to be recognized. In his song “el ti2lid” Nadim talks about today’s song-cloning machines. All the songs by Nadim and Zeina ...

| | Harve Mann My Side Of The Street CD (2008)
Trouble CD music
$6.39 Harve Mann is an electrifying live performer. His One-Mann Musical Show has been pleasing audiences for years throughout The United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. A truly original vocalist with an astonishing range, Harve can touch your heart with a soulful ballad and the next minute have you rockin’ out of your seat. Working solo with just his keyboards and guitar (Sometimes he plays them simultaneously!) allows him to work spontaneously in the moment. He also does comedy and impersonations varying from Johnny Cash to David Bowie. As a songwriter his versatility is even more amazing. Some people think of him as a comedy/satirical performer from the songs he wrote for The Dr. Demento’s Show and his appearances as “The Lounge Singer Character” on The David Letterman Show. Others see him as more of a philosophical poet of music. Harve says, “When the subject matter gets too grim, I’ll add humor so the audience will be able to handle it.” His latest album, MY SIDE OF THE STREET leans more towards the serious pop side of his writing, one exception being the inclusion of his often requested recording of MAD ROCKER. Harve plays all keyboards and guitars and wrote all words and music on this collection. He also plays bass on most ...
