Sugoi formed during the winter thaw of 2004. After friends Rob Grabowski and Dave Ferraris decided to begin the process of starting another music project (after disbanding The Full Williams Trio, San Francisco), the search began. Two months was all that it took to find bandmates Alec Silver and Scott Greene, both of whom were veterans of a diverse and growing D.C. music scene. The foursome immediately began work on producing a solid staple of original material that incorporates everything from straight ahead roots-based rock and funked out jazz to ballsy blues and reggae-sweetened compositions"For better or worse, the term "jam band" conjures wandering 30-minute riffs, patchouli oil, and veggie burritos of dubious legality. The Linville Ridge Band is a dynamic, new configuration of Bluegrass musicians from the mountains of Western North Carolina.Original songwriting along with the ability to play multiple instruments adds to the versatility of this group.The Linville Ridge Band members have traveled throughout the Southeastern states. We would love to come participate in events near your hometown.We play acoustic Bluegrass, utilizing the skills of the members on various instruments. Primarily, we play with banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass. We also have the added attraction of switching off instruments to be able to include the fiddle and resophonic guitar (or dobro).Morganton, North Carolina is where we call home.In mid-March of 2002, the group Damascus Road Acoustic Gospel disbanded after nearly ten years of existence. From that group, Perry Woodie, Aaron Ramsey and Michael Ramsey sought a new musical outlet. The dissolving of Damascus Road came as it was becoming more widely recognized and accepted in the bluegrass community. To complete the band, Corey Pittman was invited to become a member. We all share multiple duties. Perry contributes baritone, tenor and some lead vocals as well as the banjo and dobro chores. Aaron sings mostly baritone, but will contribute a bit of lead and tenor while playing mandolin and some guitar. Corey will sing primarily tenor and some lead, primarily play guitar and occasionally the fiddle. Mike holds down the lowdown with the upright bass and manages most of the group business.By forming The Linville Ridge Band, two new opportunities arose. First, the decision was made to switch to a secular Bluegrass band. Bluegrass music has always been deep within our hearts. We (Perry, Aaron and Michael) felt we should venture into the differing territory of secular Bluegrass. We have collectively followed it for the past 20+ years and have always enjoyed listening to it as well as attending festivals, shows and sharing it with close friends and family, both from within and without the BG musical community.Secondly, this would give us opportunity to share some of the original songs we have written over ...

Strongly influenced by the wealth of local Sliabh Luachra musicians, she started playing music at the early age of 4, under the tutelage of well known local musician Nicky McAuliffe. Equally talented on fiddle and concertina, she has won numerous awards, including Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Oireachtas, and Slógadh Náisiúnta and has represented Ireland at folk festivals in Britain and France. Somewhat of a child prodigy, she had support gigs for The Chieftains, and Noel Hill under her belt before she reached her teens. Despite this rich background, she put aside her music to persue a career in Electronic Engineering. After graduating with honours, Niamh was employed by an Irish software company who regularly sent her on business trips to Boston. Here she was exposed to a continuous flow of Irish musicians (Arcady, Sharon Shannon, Nomos) as well as locally based musicians (Paddy Keenan , Seamus Connolly, Tommy McCarthy). The draw of the music proved too strong, and Niamh decided to resign from work to persue a career in music. She moved to Cork to take a year-long course in 'Music, Management, and Sound' at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa, where she graduated with distinctions in every subject - the only student ever to have achieved this feat. The college subsequently awarded her "Musician of the Year". She swiftly followed this with recordings for Irish radio and television, and performances with Riverdance 's European troupe in Europe, Asia and on board the QE2, before joining the U.S. troupe in 1998.
