Emile Simon – A Golden Bell ArtistBorn in East Prussia, what is now Poland, Emile Simon began his life as a child protégé of the violin. Sadly, his joy was taken from him when his violin teacher was arrested by the SS and taken away, never to be seen again. Conscripted into the war as a very young soldier in 1944 he was caught and sent to the prison camps of Siberia. There he saw many people die and suffer and it left a tremendous impression upon this very sensitive person. He managed to escape with a few others and was able to gain his freedom. With the tip of his thumb having been shot off, his world of music was over. He continued to educate himself after the war, specializing in literature and poetry in particular but found no happiness in Europe and decided to immigrate to Canada. In Canada, Emile Simon continued to work and fulfill his dream. He has written both novels and poetry books and is now retired living in British Columbia. When his interest in music resumed, it happened in Canada upon meeting his wife June who was a coloratura soprano. At that time, Emile began composing songs for her, one of which was the theme song for his novel which was being considered for a movie. Unfortunately, June was stricken with a very bad illness which affected her voice and all the music ceased. Recently, June was in a recording studio with Emile helping out a friend. They were having a problem interpreting a song which Emile had composed for this friend. It was known that June had sung and so she was asked if she could just sing it to help them get the right feeling and mood. She thought nothing of it because no one was there – no real audience – so she happily sang the song even though she had not sung for many, many years. The result is now history. Everyone loved her voice and wanted her to record the song. She did and since then Emile has begun to write music and June has been recording it with absolute joy. Emile’s music includes both instrumentals and songs, some of the songs making beautiful instrumentals as well. His music is so varied covering love songs, romantic moods, reflective music, country and western, world music and classical. However, it always reflects this unique individual who though he has suffered tremendously, his walk through life continues to find that little spark of hope and his audiences feel it as they listen. Emile Simon is bringing something very new to the music world – combining modern and classical in a most beautiful way. As well, his lyrics reflect his true love, poetry, and the emotions he creates, the scenes, the thoughts, the moments in time are superb and far reaching as regards any audience he might attract. Emile Simon has released two all- instrumental CD’s, “Special Moments with Emile Simon” and “Timeless”, and New Release “True Love”. IN 2005 Emile won 1st. in World Music HMA awards, and is up for nomination again this year for 2006. This composer is extremely prolific and versatile.
