Deutsche Stimmen, Vol. 2 album
$15.15 Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronic concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira.. sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf " boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will ...

| | Dana Gillespie Staying Power CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Deutsche Stimmen, Vol. 2 music CDs
$16.65 Dana Gillespie is a superstar in Britain and in Europe. She has recorded 45 albums in a career longer than Eric Clapton's; she's been a star of screen and stage and even a national waterskiing champion. She is best recognized as a blues singer, however, in the grand Brit blues tradition. Staying Power, issued by Ace, features Gillespie with her own road band on a program of mostly originals -- Frankie Miller's "You're the Star" closes the album. While her band occasionally sounds a bit stilted and keeps her reined in, Gillespie is nonetheless a powerful vocalist who infuses this program of sexually loaded material with verve, toughness, and a steamy sensuality that suggests that all of the protagonists in these songs have been around the block more than once and know what it is they want without uncertainty and how badly they want it. The confidence in Gillespie's phrasing and delivery more than makes up for any constriction on the part of her backing band. The truth of desire is all in the grain of her voice; the sensuality in the way the words fall from her mouth like raw honey dripping from the comb is poignant, direct, and without subtlety or fear. Bawdy, rollicking, and at time near raunchy, there is nonetheless a certain elegance in this approach to the blues; ...

| | Love Handles Hold On CD (2008)
Deutsche Stimmen, Vol. 2 album
$18.99 What's in a Name? The Love Handles…huh? We kicked around (the name) Coney I, because we did all of the pre-production in my apartment in Gravesend (near Coney Island) in Brooklyn, NY. Zeus (a Yonkers native) would fly in from Puerto Rico (where he was living) and Buzz would fly in from Cleveland (where he lives). They would stay for a week or so (Zeus – big couch, Buzz - fetal position on the two-seater), work out arrangements, add parts, change things…etc. We would then go over to Electric Plant to record with legendary Brooklyn studio owner/engineer/rum drinker Vin Cin (who btw, also lives near Coney Island). Zeus & Buzz got a chance to see Coney Island for the first time during the recording of this CD and being a Brooklyn native, I’m there all the time. We also flirted with names like: Joggy (funny thing I heard in P.R.), Tippy (my mom’s nickname), the Crying Boners (don’t ask), Kings Highway (a Brooklyn street), and Dance Boy.Dance Boy (the song) is actually how the whole project got started. Zeus sent me an MP3 for an instrumental called “Dance Boy” and sez “See what you can do with it and send it back to me.” I put down a melody (on my 4 track cassette) and was too lazy to re-record it so that’s what you hear on the CD (with real drums n’ bass). Thus, the Love Handles were born! The whole thing actually took shape many years before with Zeus & I meeting @ music college; playing in bands together in the 90’s and then Zeus & Buzz playing together more recently in Cleveland. We might as well have called the project “Mish Mosh” with the wide variety of influences that Zeus (Sabbath, Zep, Zappa), Buzz (metal – hair bands ...
