Babel review Product Description
BABEL is the crowning achievement in the trilogy from the unstoppable creative pairing of screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga and director Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu, which also includes AMORES PERROS (2000) and 21 GRAMS (2003). Building upon its predecessors' method of weaving together disparate storylines, BABEL reaches new heights of ambition with a tale that, in the absence of traditional narrative and protagonist, relies on numerous incredible performances to evoke an affecting relevance by framing contemporary issues in very human struggles and mistakes. ...See Full Description

||astounding film,one of the best of the 2006|
Babel is about four interlocking stories set around the world: A little boy shoots at a bus to impress his brother and injures a young woman which is perceived as a terrorist atack in morroco. The woman (Cate Blanchett)is there with her husband (Brad Pitt) to recover from losing their third child. The couple's nanny (Adriana Barraza)takes their children to Mexico for her nephew's wedding,little aware of the consequences. And a mute Japanese girl (Rinko kikuchi)longs for her dead mother while spiraling out of control. This is a riveting, extradinary film that is has a superb script and is stunningly directed. Rinko Kikuchi delivers a towering, emotionanlly shattering performance which,no offense to Jennifer Hudson, should have won the best supporting actress oscar. Adriana barraza heartbreaking,sturdy performance is also quite impressive as is the rest of the cast. This is a great film which needs to be seen.

||Possibly the most emotionally intense film I have ever seen|
Babel movie It is true, I am making a big hype around my statement, but this film moved me into a point of emotional suffering I have never felt before in a film, and states something very unsettling about how disconnected society and cultures from differing areas are from one another. Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who also directed the story of Amores Perros, has made yet another film in his trilogy that is incredibly hard to watch, but if you can bear it and sit through it is worth watching in the end. Now, the whole stories in this film are all connected somehow, but arent fully revealed until the very end, and the performances are incredible. The thing that makes this film so great is not what it shows, but how emotionally charging it becomes. Brad Pitt shows character as a broken husband who cares for what could be his wife's dying hours, and Rinko Kikuchi shows incredible talent as a young teenager who feels lonesome and mentally unhealthy after her mother killed herself. Those were the two highlights, but all the films characters were portrayed so well. The drawback is that this is really a film where you do have to know about what film is meant to be, and not all film is pretty, and it also needs to be thought through. Although I admit, it was exhaustingly painful and brings tears no matter who you are, its conclusion to this shattering drama brings you to a state of emotional resurrection. I honestly am suprised this film didnt take the Best Picture award, compared to The Departed. Overall, one of my favorites....

Just watched the move and it is VERY highly over-rated it was ok but nothing more than your average movie. Was expecting much better.

||Trailer 5 stars the Movie 2 stars|
I saw the trailer for Babel on another DVD. What an amazing trailer. I was first to buy the DVD when it came out. Unfortunately the movie was horrible. There is 2 complete different story lines in this film and too much sexual situations involving children. Which has nothing to do with different cultures not understanding one another.
