Bea Arthur is Maude in this 70s sitcom that was a spin-off of All in the Family. Emmy winner Bea Arthur's brief stint on ALL IN THE FAMILY was so popular that it led to this ground-breaking sitcom. While Archie Bunker was famous for being a bigoted right-winger, Maude (Arthur, GOLDEN GIRLS) was an upper-middle-class feminist. Married to her fourth husband (Bill Macy, ANALYZE THIS), Maude was the head of a family that included her divorced daughter, Carol (Adrienne Barbeau, THE FOG), and her son, Philip (Brian Morrison). Her conservative neighbor, Arthur (Conrad Bain, DIFF'RENT STROKES), and Maude's maid, Florida (Esther Rolle, GOOD TIMES), completed the talented cast. Like its predecessor, MAUDE didn't shy away from controversy. The most notable story arc of the first season was Maude's struggle with the decision to get an abortion in the two-part episode "Maude's Dilemma." This release includes every episode of the first season, featuring guest stars such as Rue McClanahan, John Amos, and Tom Bosley. Maude - The Complete First Season Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars)  The Best TV Series of the 70's
Where are seasons 2, 3, and up?? This hilarious show portrays the best of the 70's. You'll be treated to a social conscience in addition to great comedic timing and the great Bea Arthur. The writing and the acting are superb. This will take you back to a time where the issues were as pressing as today but the comparative innocence will charm and entertain to the max.

My only complaint is why in the heck did it take Sony so long to release it? This classic Bea Arthur series needs all six seasons on DVD. Bea is at her greatest here, although most people today probably remeber her best and like her better as Dorothy on Golden Girls.
You've great a cast here- Bea, Bill Macy, Esther Rolle, Adrienne Barbeau, Rue McClanahan, and Conrad Bain.
All of the episodes here are pretty hilarious and are not outdated, as some people want you to believe the series is no longer funny or interesting. A show that desrves to be resurrected!
