(1 Customer Review)
This 2007 album finds beloved Brazilian pop crooner Roberto Carlos performing duets with an impressive array of contemporaries and admirers. Highlights of the collection include the smooth-voiced Carlos singing the lilting "Alegria, Alegria" with Caetano Veloso and the breezy "Ligia" with Antonio Carlos "Tom" Jobim. Although Carlos's approach is considerably poppier than many of his DUETO partners, his highly accessible aesthetic makes the record immediately enjoyable.
Personnel: Roberto Carlos (vocals); Erasmo Carlos, Gal Costa, Milton Nascimento, Tom Jobim, Wanderléa, Caetano Veloso.

| | Little Feat Raw Tomatos Vol. 1 CDs (2002)
Roberto Carlos Dueto album
$14.85 Recorded between 1971 and 2001. Includes liner notes by Paul Barrere.
This is what Little Feat fans have been waiting years for: a series dedicated to live and rare recordings. Problem is, there are two kinds of Little Feat fans -- those who love the band unconditionally, soaking up recordings made in the '80s and '90s as easily as those from the '70s, and those who love the band, but only when Lowell George is around. The first group will treasure Raw Tomatos, Vol. 1, along with its companion, Ripe Tomatos, Vol. 1, while the latter will grudgingly accept both volumes, since the Lowell recordings are spread among the two double-disc sets. It's hard not to think they'd have a point, since each volume flows identically, with about half-a-disc of vintage George material, before leading to a disc-and-a-half of post-reunion recordings. If this were one volume, sequenced this way, it'd be easy to accept and cherish anything you've been given, since there has been no archival Little Feat release prior to this. Simultaneous releases, sequenced similarly, however, make you wonder why all the George-era recordings were on one stellar disc, and the rest put to another series. Even if you're a fan wondering this, you will purchase it anyway, because the George material is so good -- a spare, funky "Crack in Your Door" with great piano by Bill Payne; a demo of "Trouble"; a nasty "Apolitical Blues"; an addictive lo-fi demo of "Fat Man in the Bathtub" with different lyrics; Bonnie Raitt singing on "Sailin' Shoes"; and a wonderful throwaway "Ass for Days," which runs less than a minute. The rest of the material is uniformly good, sometimes delightfully so ("Those Feat'll Steer Ya Wrong Sometimes," a gritty version ...
| | Robert Huntley Duet CD (1993)
Roberto Carlos Dueto CD music
$16.45 This talented pianist has been writing and playing some of the most beautiful piano music anywhere since 1987. A performer as well as composer and producer, his smooth and expressive light-jazz piano style was polished through playing many years as one of Nordstrom's premier staff pianists at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Robert has recorded four albums of original music: "The Happy Fool" (1989), "alone/not alone" (1991), "Duet" (1993), and "Here Now" (2004).Robert Huntley began piano lessons at age six as a child growing up in Ohio. At age twelve his family moved to southwest Virginia; in ninth grade he began his musical career playing guitar in a teen band. He soon switched to organ and through high school played with "Little Soul and the Blue Fever" at teen dances and proms around southwest Virginia, hauling a Hammond organ and Leslie cabinet in his '59 Chevy panel van. After college and a career as a professional photographer in Atlanta in the late 70's, music came to the fore once again. Robert studied jazz piano in Atlanta with Ted Howe, a former instructor at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, learning jazz voicings and harmonies that are the basis of his piano technique today.Robert began composing original music around 1987. Musical influences were jazz pianists Bill Evans and Michel Petrucciani, new pianists George Winston and Jim Chappell, and a wide variety of other music ranging from popular songwriters like James Taylor, to classical music by Chopin, Bach, and Mozart. He recorded and released his first album, "The Happy Fool," on JustBe Music in 1989. A classic new-age release, it features heartfelt piano ...
