This is the solo debut from a clearly talented young Italian guitarist, one whose chops are impressive and whose ideas are consistently interesting, if not always as well organized as they probably should be. Poste E Telegrafi consists mainly of duets, with a couple of solo tracks and one trio performance thrown in as well, and it feels like something of a grab bag of influences and styles: on "Western Soda" Stefana plays a banjo while gritty looped sounds grind darkly in the background, the whole thing evoking the sound of trains and a sort of abstract hobo imagery; the multi-tracked solo composition "Semi Tostati di Cielo" starts out sweet and gentle (with faint wood blocks bringing to mind an Ennio Morricone soundtrack), then suddenly becomes clattery and foreboding before settling down again -- the whole thing feels as if it were spliced together rather haphazardly, but it's not bad.   ...See Full Description
