Recording information: Digitall Studios, West Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard, MA. Photographers: Noran Smith Jr.; Nancy Given. Glenn Jones, the central member of proggy post-rock act Cul De Sac, jumped at the chance to team with finger-picking guitar legend John Fahey, and in 1997 they released the groundbreaking THE EPIPHANY OF GLENN JONES. The title proved to be more than mere words as, in the succeeding years, Cul De Sac would veer away from avant-garde, electronic sounds into a more reflective, wandering, bluegrass-tinged brand of folk. The "solo" record AGAINST WHICH THE SEA CONTINUALLY BEATS (2007) is the culmination of Jones's transformation, an evocative, haunting record on which the guitarist continues his mastery of the wordless yarn. Although he's hardly a newcomer, Glenn Jones has been picked up by the new generation of acoustic guitarists, which has helped make this album a reality. He's made the most of this opportunity, showing himself to be, if not a disciple of the late John Fahey, then influenced by his expansive work. There's plenty going on in Jones' instrumentals, like the lovely bass-string melody that crops up during "David and the Phoenix," for example. He's not merely adept; he's a superbly adventurous player, who uses extended tunes as springboards for exploration, as in the celebratory "Freedom Raga." Using half and two/thirds capos on the fretboard creates some fascinating tunings, which give an added spark of individuality. Even on slide, Jones shows himself to be an exceptional instrumentalist (as on the two "Islands" pieces that frame the disc). Melodies and ideas cascade from his fingers; this is a man who deserves a much wider audience. ~ Chris NicksonThe Wire (p.63) - "The brief slide piece 'Island' that opens the album sets expectation high, with its intricate, fluid and complex lines....With Jones you can fall in love with the sound of six strings all over again." | | Bassholes When My Blue Moon Turns Red Again CD (1998)
Against Which The Sea Continually Beats
$13.89 Personnel: Don Howland (vocals, guitar); Jon Wahl (harmonica, saxophone, organ); Bim Thomas (drums). Recording information: Grandmaster And Studio 12, Hollywood, CA (1998). Photographer: Jay Brown . A staggering 21 tracks long, the Bassholes' 1998 double-album, WHEN MY BLUE MOON TURNS RED, doesn't expand on the group's punked-out blues sound so much as hammer it down into a definitive statement of purpose. There are detours throughout, as on the brooding, Hammond-soaked "Swimming Blues" and the totally unexpected ...

| | Lil Crise Age Of Wisdom CD (2006)
Against Which The Sea Continually Beats
$13.69 Born into a family of musicians this young wonderkin showed early signs of rhythm, I knew I saw greatness when my nephew (my great aunt's site http://www.panonthenet.com/woman/2005/Albino-deCoteau.htm)was able to bang out the rhythmic pattern of any song emanating from the radio on his feeding tray, As a matter of fact the only reason the child would cry was when the radio was turned off .I remember his dad would sit him down on his lap at some of his rehearsals when his current gig was the drummer, he'd even make him play the hi hats while he was playing the pedals .Delaun(lil Crise) once told me"he would drive me crazy with music but im glad he gave me lessons in the drums, the piano, the guitar and just recently the bass" .Being that his father owns a recording studio in the heart of Brooklyn, which music influences are predominantly Rap, Delaun would ultimately fall under that blanket His dad had wanted initially to have someone write for him and even though he(crise) told him he can do it himself he went ahead and wrote 2 songs, which were great and every one was exited but when I bought my book of rhymes it brought more of me to the table and of course the ghost writer wouldn't be needed any more. 8 songs were finished but we were told I was too young for the game, ha" he exclaimed" if bow wow and Romeo could do it, was the world really ready for me Lil C r is e"I have the album myself and it aint like nothing yall got on the radio. Hope you are ready. Im proud to know this is my great nephew that has an independent cd with over 2,000 sold already, ...
