 Meat Loaf is found lost in a solid foundation of music.
The listening experience of its preceedors has to be one of the most emotional, thrilling, cinematic and imaginative sensations out there! So it's easy to hear this record and want to use it as a mug coaster! This album was a 10 track LP now converted to CD. 10 songs sounding nowhere near the unapproachable Jim Steinman technicolour masterpieces. You will notice, immediatly a better sounding vocal than on Dead Ringer. A clearer recording too. Don't expect Jim Steinman when listening to this record. Steinman the creative composer who wrote most of Meat's biggest hits. Let this play, don't take this seriously and You will hear Chuck Berry! Rockabilly! A Deep southern duet, And few indie songs. Max Weinberg is back on drums and he doesn't dissapoint. There are two distinctive songs on here, one called "Keep Driving" that really does unleash a sense of personalism. Finally, a conclusion that sounds like something you'd hear on the radio, holding the one you love in a bad awful hotel room! It's accoustic and emotional. Nothing on this record draws out. With the longest song touching the five minute bar, this album is pretty silly. The singer himself claims today these tracks were just a bunch of demos. However there is a solid fanbase centred around this record! Deservedly so! I've bought this on LP and CD. I don't like reviewing music. However Meat deserves someone to rant about some of the lowest music he has ever made. This is ****(4) stars without question. The least that's gonna happen if you don't like this record, is you have a place to put your mug while you write your own review for this record! :) Keep Rocking :)
