(4 Customer Reviews)
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
Though this 1971 release was issued at a time of enormous commercial success for the Moody Blues, EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOUR contains some of the band's most adventurous music. The band had recently discovered the Moog synthesizer, and its presence is felt on much of the album. The opening "Procession" instantly sets this collection's experimental course, landing like a spacecraft among reams of cascading synthesizer before evolving into a soundscape of cricket chirps, thunderclaps, and tribal chanting. The next three minutes contain one of the most cathartic sonic explorations the band has ever put forth.
Other standout tracks include "After You Came," which features tessellated vocal layering and bluesy guitar work; "Emily," a song that John Lodge wrote for his daughter; and the rapturously symphonic "You Can Never Go Home." Rich, complex, powerful, and beautifully produced, EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOUR brings together all of the Moody Blues' best qualities in one album, standing as the culmination of their fine '60s work, and the standard-bearer for the music to come.

Only reason I purchased it was because of CD Universe's bogus description that said the release would be a 2-disc set. Well guess what, it is NOT a 2CD set; and the couple of bonus tracks that are included are'nt worth the price of an import CD! Submitted by srtowens (MS, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great remastering Those complaining about these SACDs being only 4 channel have a point when it comes to the advertising, but not when it comes to the sound.
These new mixes sound beautiful in either surround or 2 channel SACD.
Listening on good headphones (read Sennheiser HD650)is a virtual trip. (As was intended by the Moodies in the first place!) Quit whining and enjoy the music! Submitted by hellenback137 (Toronto, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great Remaster Great sound, great music, definitely worth buying the remaster (along with the other 6 Moody Blues remasters). Submitted by Bill (Maple Glen, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
I waited for this??? 2 stars is not for the music (which I love). It merely reflects my disappointment with the SACD mix. Even though the liner notes refer to a "5.1 multichannel mix from the original quadraphonic master," the SACD is simply in 4.0. There is nothing on the center channel, and nothing on the subwoofer channel. So, they basically cleaned up the quad tapes for the SACD. The resulting sound is hollow and lifeless - it feels like listening to a cassette tape (albeit without the hiss).
The exact same commentary also goes for Seventh Sojourn, which was remixed for SACD by the same person (I posted a similar comment on Seventh Sojourn). Submitted by Serdar (Palo Alto, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$24.79 The remastered DISRAELI GEARS is also available in its entirety on the 4 disc set THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
Recorded in the U.S. in a three-and-a-half day flurry of inspired activity before the band members' visas expired, DISRAELI GEARS continued to present the legendary, unprecedented rock power-trio acrobatics pioneered by Cream on their debut FRESH CREAM. The acronymic "SWLABR (She Walked Like a Bearded Rainbow)" for instance, featured some of the band's most fiery instrumental interplay. The album, with its eye-catching day-glo cover, was produced by Felix Pappalardi (who went on to co-found the Cream-inspired Mountain) and once again featured collaborations between singer/bassist Jack Bruce and lyric poet Pete Brown. The Top Five hit "Sunshine Of Your Love," however, was written by Brown and Eric Clapton. That iconic riff-rocker, along with the slinky, bluesy "Strange Brew," and the mythographic, wah-wah stomper "Tales of Brave Ulysses" was a staple of rock radio forever after, making DISRAELI GEARS one of the seminal '60s rock albums. Despite the good humor suggested by the jokey a capella reading of "Mother's Lament," however, ...

Every Good Boy Deserves Favour songs
$26.29 After the surprise success of their 2006 album, WRITER'S BLOCK, the Swedish indie-rock act Peter Bjorn and John could have opted for a quick follow-up that capitalized on the upbeat vibe of their buoyant hit, "Young Folks." Instead, they unveiled a mostly instrumental collection of willfully quirky tunes (SEASIDE ROCK), singer/guitarist Peter Moren issued a subdued solo debut (THE LAST TYCOON), and the trio finally reconvened for a full-fledged studio offering, 2009's LIVING THING. Largely avoiding the overt pop melodies and shoegazer atmospheres of PB&J's earlier work, the record frequently settles into a chilly electro-tinged aesthetic, as evinced on the icy opener, "The Feeling." Other standout tracks include the kid-assisted, beat-heavy "Nothing to Worry About" and the spare title tune, songs that play up the group's eccentricities, and reveal their charms only on repeated listens.
Import only two CD pressing of the Swedish trio's 2009 album ...
