Surreal Survivor album
$19.98 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much music, cherrypicking highlights from 1978 to 2007. In its simplest incarnation, Live Anthology is a super-affordable, four-disc box set running 48 tracks, which is eight cuts longer than Springsteen's box, plenty long enough for most fans, but in its deluxe version, available only through Best Buy, there's an additional CD, plus two previously unreleased DVDs -- a 1978 New Years Eve concert from Santa Monica, a documentary called 400 Days shot during the Wildflowers tour -- a Blu-Ray edition of all 62 tracks on ...
| | John Mayer Battle Studies CD (2009)
Surreal Survivor CD music
$11.17 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of ...

Surreal Survivor CD music
$9.99 I AM. SASHA FIERCE represents another change of pace for Beyoncé. Unlike the relatively streamlined, retro-soul inflected B'DAY, I AM... is a sprawling two-disc set designed to reflect two conflicting sides of Beyoncé's musical personality. The first disc sports reflective, sometimes moody ballads, while the second, attributed to Beyoncé's brash alter ego, Sasha Fierce, is loaded with propulsive dance-floor fillers. Except for this stylistic divide, I AM. pays only nominal attention to its supposed ...

| | Aep First Acoustic Free Rock Relationship CD (2007)
Surreal Survivor music CDs
$6.69 AEP: Comments On My First Solo Album Free rock is the term I like to use to describe the music genre of my very first solo album. After ten years and two cd:s in Humboogie, I decided to release an album for which I did all the compositions, recording, playing, mixdown and cover design. Free rock mostly takes its influence on the area of rock that I have found most fruitful: the years 1968-1975. Of course, a musically experienced listener will find hints of, for example, the early 1980âs here and there, not to mention some guitar styles of classical music arranged for acoustic guitar (I have played classical guitar for over 20 years, too). To record with acoustic guitar and vocal solely was an obvious approach, since most of the material, if not all, was composed that way. Later on, I will add other instruments; I will let you know. After the âAirsongâ album by Humboogie in 2005, I have played bass and sung in the progressive rock group Red Lizard (King Crimson, Rush). In 2006, Peter and I started the Rocker which plays Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple (MK.III&IV), Led Zeppelin as well as songs from âAirsongâ and my first solo album. By now you may guess what will hit you from the speakers when you press the âplayâ⊠âThe First Acoustic Free Rock Relationshipâ is a twelve-part journey into an imaginary relationship, not to be taken too seriously. English literature, poetry and film have given quite an influence on my lyrics, but my mother tongue has also added some weirdness to the expressions I use, on purpose. The songs are in chronological order; however, if you donât agree with what happens to the not-so-mentally-stable main character, you can always âdo the Tarantinoâ with the order to end up with a totally different conclusion. Because of the constantly changing state of affairs with the story, I lyrically tend to be sometimes totally minimalist, sometimes fully extrovert. So that you could walk the thin red storyline without having to hitchhike every now and then, I shall next present a few descriptions for each of the twelve chapters of âThe First Acoustic Free Rock Relationshipâ: 1) âFurniture Manâ: the main character has become a couch potato, so you canât even recognise him among the furniture. Luckily, in the end the apartment gets bored with him and kicks him out to new adventures. 2) âTalkinâ âBout Uâ: for this person, recently thrown into civilisation again, the obvious thing to do is to go and find company at the nearest bar. Thus, there he sees somebody interesting, knows what to say but doesnât know how⊠3) âThe Final Hoursâ : after one too many visits outside, the main character doesnât remember, so he must have had fun. Heâs also found some company. Includes alternative descriptions of the mental representations on the morning after. 4) âB My Womanâ: A few good efforts later, the question of âwhoâs the ideal womanâ will disturb the unstable ...
